"I agree. Now tell that to the tinfoil hat wearers prattling about Ted Cruz and 'Seven Mountains Theology' or something like that."
"That is disingenuous, Hank. It's clear - especially from Raul Cruz, Sr, that Cruz's owners & supporters that the plan is for Cruz to alter the government according to this heresy. It's all out there in the public domain....
I see.........
Well, you win!
Hank
LOL
Carter was a sunday school teacher, we’re not electing a preacher but a president.
I agree.
Can you get that word to Rev. Trump?
âI am not voting for Pope.â
I would agree with that sentiment - we are NOT voting for a religious leader, we are voting for who would be the best President. Many times the characteristics that weâd like in a religious leader are bad characteristics (or at least not good ones) for a political leader (and visa versa). This is irrelevant.
Jeb is (as usual) WAY off base and WAY out of line. He doesnât know Trumpâs heart any more than I do, and I think that it is rude beyond belief to publicly question anotherâs beliefs in this manner. Why donât we let G-d judge us, and stick to improving the world around us instead of impugning the character of others (which doesnât do anything but harm). In a purely political sense, negative attacks on others may be effective in the short-term, but they donât tell us why to vote for the attacker - and that applies in spades here. I STILL donât know why I should vote for JEB (though I do know a whole host of reasons why I shouldnât, this latest incident being only the last item on a long list).
That said, I look to a personâs actions over a long period of time to get a sense of their general morality. Trump has given a LOT to charity, and did not have to give a penny or any of his time. Trump wants to help the vets, especially those carrying around permanent injuries - that speaks to both compassion and the understanding that our society owes those fine folks a BIG debt of gratitude and caring. Whereâs Bush on these things? If he is similarly charitable, great for him - and the issue is off the table.
Does Trump have negative moral characteristics? Surely - as do we all. My advice for JEB is that, since he also lives in a glass house, maybe he shouldnât throw rocks.
OTOH, Bush has about 5% support because most Republican voters sense that he is just another cog in the Establishment machine that has repeatedly lied to us and used us. He CLEARLY doesnât give a damn about lower income citizens, because he favors letting in lots of immigrants who will directly compete with them - not to mention the crime and disease that theyâll bring in, which will affect everyone. That one stance, on immigration, speaks more to Bushâs morality than anything that he says about Trump.
Trump may or may not be the best candidate for President (this is not the thread to discuss that issue, and I do have my opinions about the whole field), but attacking his religiosity or lack thereof is, AT BEST, irrelevant. At worst, it shows (yet again) Bushâs desperation and lack of judgment (and, for that matter, his contempt for the thought process that millions of voters go through to determine who is best suited to become the Republican nominee).
In short, JEB = FAIL.
