The Zika virus, a disease suspected of causing birth defects which spread across much of Latin America in 2015, has now reached the United States.
A young girl who traveled from Los Angeles County to El Salvador was infected with the mosquito-transmitted disease, according to the local department of public health.
The girl has now recovered, but it’s not the adults infected with the disease who are especially at risk—it’s the unborn. The Zika virus is linked to microcephaly, a birth defect where the infant is born with an abnormally small brain. The majority of children born with the disease suffer from mental retardation, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
The number of infants born with the defect jumped up by a factor of 20 in Brazil after the Zika virus swept across Brazil in 2015, and a number of countries have advised that women to not get pregnant for a few months, or in the case of El Salvador, a few years.
Although transmission has yet to occur in the United States, it remains a possibility.
“Aedes mosquitos, the species of mosquito that can transmit Zika, are present in the San Gabriel Valley and in the Eastern part of the county,†the L.A. County Department of Public Health said in a statement. “At this time, local transmission is unlikely. It would require an Aedes mosquito biting a Zika infected person and then biting others.â€
The Zika virus was first discovered in Africa in 1947, and spread to Latin America in 2015. It has now spread to 22 countries, including Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Is there a person-to-person vector on its spread? Or, is it a person-to-mosquito-to-person vector? We need to bring back DDT.
Person-to-mosquito-to-person, but it’s possible that it can be sexually transmitted as well.
Yikes! Every night, during the summer, I fight mosquitoes. I can imagine one of those infected mosquitoes biting me and making me a carrier to the next mosquito that bites me. Soon everyone in my neighborhood will get infected.
I’ll have to make a heart shaped chocolate cake with a frosting zombie on top.
Most people don’t even know they’re infected. It’s really not that bad for adults. Maybe as bad as the flu. Rarely serious.
The problem is with pregnant women. The virus deforms the fetus.
We need a vaccine for this. Badly.
The virus causes the babies’ brain to fail at reaching full development. The brains are small and that causes a severe mental retardation. If there is a way to detect the presence of the virus in pregnant women, they will be tested. If they test positive, they will opt for abortions. That is horrific.

This is just what the ZPG Elites want, so don’t expect any quick actions by WHO and the CDC that will actually help. Think back seven years ago when the Swine flu hysteria was running rampant - All about getting people vaccinated for a very mild type of flu. This is much worse, and affecting unborn babies’ brain development is worthy of a major response.
Close the borders and airports to people from these affected countries. Quarantine anyone who may be infected until it’s known whether the virus is present in a blood test.
Surprising Merck and GSK haven’t been working on a vaccine - maybe they are and like the other flu vaccines, just aren’t all that effective.
