Cruz Invites Trump to Debate Before Iowa Caucus
Cruz News ^ | January 27, 2016

Posted on 01/27/2016 7:39:52 PM PST by Isara

WEST DES MOINES, IA - Today, presidential candidate Ted Cruz invited Donald Trump to a one-on-one debate held before Iowa Republican voters caucus and make their selection for president. The event would take place at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City this Saturday, January 30th at 8:00 p.m. Cruz suggested the moderators either be radio hosts Mark Levin, Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh, or that the format simply be questions from the audience.

"We owe it to the men and women of Iowa to ensure that they hear jointly and directly from the two leading Republican candidates so that they may contrast our positions on the critical issues we face as a nation as they make their final choice leading up to Monday's caucuses," said Cruz.

The venue has already been reserved and the Cruz campaign anxiously awaits a response from Donald Trump.

The full letter from Cruz:

January 27, 2016

Dear Donald,

We owe it to the men and women of Iowa to ensure that they hear jointly and directly from the two leading Republican candidates so that they may contrast our positions on the critical issues we face as a nation as they make their final choice leading up to Monday's caucuses.

Accordingly, please accept this invitation to join me at an in-person, two-hour Town Hall event at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City this Saturday, January 30th at 8:00 p.m. Central. This venue is already reserved and I would propose that our campaigns evenly divide available seating/ticketing. Our teams can jointly work on the logistical details.

Additionally, I propose one of the following three individuals serve as a Town Hall facilitator: Mark Levin, Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. If none of these proposed individuals are acceptable to you, I suggest that instead we alternate in fielding direct questions from the audience.

I look forward to your timely response.

Ted

Why should Trump do that? He’s way ahead, there would be noting to gain for him.

you’re a day late and a dollar short: this call to debate has been posted here umpteen gazillion times today; and for goodness sakes, you anti-Trumpers need to get some fresh dirt because posting your old dirt over and over and over again is getting REALLY boring.

And BTW, Cruz is simply copying what Jeb Bush tried a month ago:

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/264328-bush-challenges-trump-to-one-on-one-debate

it’s what losers do. they try to shine in the reflected light of the winners when their own light dims. on the other hand, the shinning winner can only be diminished by sharing his light with a loser, which is of course why winners shun sharing their light with losers.

I don’t think Trump will take kindly to being summoned by Cruz.

Trump doesn’t have the guts to go one on one with Cruz. Too bad to it would probably open some eyes.

Exactly! Ted Cruz should talk about his other agendas (we all know where he stands on abortion and obamacare)but he needs to talk about his tax plan (which I like).

Donald Trump could move up even higher if he would talk about his own agendas, I also like Donald Trump’s tax proposal.

Doesn't every single potential caucii participant know their respective differences?

That's not why Ted wants a debate. He wants to pound on Trump's past positions and recent flips.

Trump is going to force him to do that with ads and his own media draw, and not be party to his own roast.

Ted can go get his own airtime.

We'll see what the race looks like after NH and NC.

Unless something unexpected occurs and Trump wins in Iowa. Then it would be over.

your exactly right. That is the ONE thing he cannot afford to do.
A one on one with Ted Cruz would expose the truth and he can’t afford that.

How many times when you were a kid did you have 4 against one?
You take out and the wiener boys still protect the bully when you call him out.

You call him out alone in front of his girlfriend and he runs to the wiener boys.

This is getting childish

The loser calls out the winner before a vote. SOP. Its been done over and over again. I like Cruz, I do; he just lacks balls in this race. America needs a set again after Carter v2.0.

Trump has said that he has already debated with Cruz six times and won. He said he will debate Cruz in Canada.

That is what he said. It is done.

Well it figures if Trump is too scared to deal with Megyn Kelly, he wouldn't want to go near a 1-1 debate with Cruz.
