Ted Cruz Shares Intimate Details of His Faith Journey
Charismanews ^ | 1/28/16

After my dad became a Christian, we all moved together to Houston. And seeing the amazing transformation in her husband, my mom became a Christian within a year as well. Thus, by age 4, I was blessed to be being raised in a Christian home with two strong (but new) believers as parents.

I was raised in the church. Each night, my dad would read with me from our children's Bible. We'd memorize Bible verses, and compete to see who could do the best. We'd act out scenes from the Old Testament. We attended Clay Road Baptist Church, pastored by the same Brother Gaylon Wiley who had led my father to the Lord.

When I was 8 years old, I went to our church's summer camp, along (with) my cousin Bibi. At the invitation, tears streaming down my face, Bibi and I both walked down and gave our lives to Jesus.

And it changed my life. To have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to know that God's only Son died to pay for my sins, that I was fallen that I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, nothing is more important to me. I am a new creature in Christ, and it central to who I am today.

I couldn't run for president without relying heavily on my faith. When I have doubts, He comforts me. When I am weak, He gives me strength.

-snip-

When I fight to defend religious liberty, it's not purely a constitutional matter; it's a lifelong passion and personal commitment.

As long as he is never President, I am good. He can do whatever he wants.

Can you rewrite your reply. It doesn’t make sense at all. You need to fix the grammar or something.

Imagine that, he writes about how Christianity changed his family when asked by a magazine about his faith.

It’s much better to hear a man say he’s never asked God for forgiveness but somehow has a “great relationship” with Him, right?

I think the only transferable point to that illustration is that the founders were steeped in the knowledge of God’s word, and so by analogy having a president under a strong influence of those same Scriptures raises hope that Cruz and the founders would be on the same page on a lot of issues, such as property rights, right to life, right to worship God according to one’s conscience, etc.

Who said “I’m the greatest Christian”?

Have we heard or seen Cruz standing up before the American people and exposing the current ROE hung around the necks of our troops? Have we seen Cruz before the American people exposing who gave the stand down order in Benghazi? Have we seen Cruz on the steps of the Capitol exposing the destruction of our military and the firings of top military leaders? Have we seen Cruz exposing the corruption in the VA and calling for the firing of those guilty of the deplorable conditions? Have we seen Cruz speaking out about the PC training for our troops? Have we seen Cruz going before the American people and demanding that our soldiers be allowed to carry thheir weapons on military bases? Let’s get real here and admit that everyone in Congress knows just what’s going on. Has the Congress or supposed “conservatives,” as a whole, gone to the steps of the Capitol and exposed what is going on in DC? Seems to be a shortage of spine and guts in DC and none of them, IMO, have the gonads to lick our troops boots. As the widow of a retired USAF officer who served in Nam, I find it offensive for you and others to slam Trump’s support for our military and our veterans. How dare you and others slam Trump for supporting our veterans when he’s bringing their deplorable treatment out into the open. Go visit Arlington and explain the silence in DC to men and women who sacrificed so you can write your snarky comments about Trump! As a widow of a retired officer, I find them annoying. There are a lot of men on this website who sacrificed a lot for this nation and they support Trump. Don’t belittle them! There are widows on this website whose husband’s are in their graves because of their service to this country. The offensive comments demeaning our choice for President is unwanted and offensive to many of us who have been on this website for over ten years.

“Maybe you are the greatest Christian and I am happy with that. I am not always the best Christian, but each day I try to do better”

Yeh you and me both. Yes its offensive because that is not any measure of being a good Christian.

Cruz is indulging in that self serving pandering that is really stomach churning. He didn’t have any more of an immersive Christian childhood than I did or probably you and millions of others just like us. How many times do you tell the story before its self serving? How come Cruz does not have a gazillion other people he knows out there witnessing for him? That would be a lot more effective.

How many pics are out there of Cruz at a rally caressing the face of a vet with no arms? How many videos are there out there of Cruz walking out into a large audience to personally discuss a wounded Vet’s problem and then have his staff get on it to solve the problem? How many rallies to raise money for wounded warriors has Cruz put on? Only now he wants to give money but only if Trump will debate him.

I hate to say it but I have not seen even one instance of Cruz’s Christian faith on display or heard one story about Cruz doing anything that would actually witness his Christian faith. The only evidence I have is Cruz telling me night and day.

I would put to you as a Christian myself that Donald Trump has a lot more check marks in the Christian column than Ted Cruz does.

‘Have we heard or seen Cruz standing up before the American people and exposing the current ROE hung around the necks of our troops?’

When Obama said, “I’m very good at killing people,” he could well have been speaking of these very ROE. I.e.: he could have meant he’s very good at getting our troops killed.

It’s a shame that when both parties to a marriage convert, it’s not enough to stave off divorce.

I support Cruz's beatification.

To fight for Christians against the Golden hordes of Islam and other heathen, I support Donald Trump.

Cruz for monk. Trump for CRUSADER.

No where in this thread have I bashed Trump. I don’t support him, but I am not bashing him here.

I have never attacked veterans, and never will. They have my utmost respect. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII, one is still living but will not talk about it. I have a cousin who was a POW in Vietnam, he is listed on the Wall in Washington D.C.

I appreciate your husbands service and I am sorry for your loss.

Take care and may God bless you and your family.

“You think”....

Go right on thinking that your candidate is the holier than thou candidate who will raise the oceans and return the riches to the mountains.

Many Americans beg to differ.

I THINK that the Founders would be quite pleased with Trump and the way he’s turning the entire DC cesspool and despicable media on their collective ears.

I'm trying to come to grips with this.

When we start seeing Christian testimony disparaged on rock solid conservative sites like FR there can be no other conclusion.

Do you hold a seminary or Bible school degree?

Just as it is silly for you to ask that question, it is equally silly to have it asked of you, agreed?

A pastor is not required to have a degree from a seminary or Bible school. Nor are you.
