MILWAUKEE (AP) — Samy Mohamed Hamzeh wanted to shoot up a Milwaukee Masonic event center in the name of Islam because he thought the group that owns it is "playing with the world like a game," according to federal authorities.

But a member of the fraternal organization, which is not a religion, said Wednesday it isn't at "the root of some of the world's problems."

"We can hardly plan a pancake breakfast," said Gavin DeGrave, who is a secretary for the Valley of Milwaukee, which includes four Masonic chapters.

I think folks give the Free Masons far too much credit. The problem I see with wanting to rule the world is, it’s pretty much eff’d up and not much hope of it getting back on track before Christ returns. So, until the Son of Man comes back, they can have a go at it and see if they can improve it.

Richard Feynman - I think in high school - was offered membership in the exclusive Arrister, but declined it, saying later that essentially all they did in their meetings was to decide, “Who else is good enough to join this fine group that we are?”

It sort of gave him a life-long aversion of joining even scientific associations.

It was the Arista Honor Society and he was a member, though he may very well have withdrawn his membership for the reason you stated, though I suspect his had more to do with his religious persuasion. He was an absolute genius.
