Trump's event was carried "live" on the Internet, as well as on CNN, MSNBC, OANN, and C-SPAN.

I get it. I flipped back and forth a bit during commercials. Spinning that this debate was some sort of ratings bonanza is just so blatantly obviously wrong it's silly.

If you're going to spin, comparing Fox to CNN during the same time is at least a better attempt at such. But I do understand that there are other factors that would even make that difficult.

The Fox News Republican debate without front-runner Donald Trump received the second-lowest viewership ratings of the seven such televised encounters among Republicans so far this election cycle, CNN reported on Friday.

Actually you should read post 25 since it nukes your assessment completely

FNC - 94 million homes, 81% penetration FBC - 74 million homes, 63% penetration

The mental illness is getting deeper.

Yes the mental illness of you responding with an infantile snark to every post that does the math to point out how your article got it complete wrong is getting pretty deep. Seek professional help as soon as possible.

As a few dozen people have pointed out, the lie is for you to claim that Fox New, which reaches many more household then Fox Business, “raised” ratings. That is lying by omission.

A honest comparison would be how it did to Fox News 1st debate.

1st Fox News debate 24 million. Last night Fox News debate just barely half that.

6th lowest ratings of 7 debates. The article is dishonest.

6th lowest out of 7 is also factual.

***********************************************************************
MNJohnnie, I did NOT claim anything. I posted a FACTUAL article that listed the ratings/viewership of last night’s (Jan 28th) ratings. THAT ARTICLE (not me) pointed out that those Jan 28th debate ratings were higher than the last prior debate (Sep 14th). Perhaps you should post a deranged letter to the writer of the article claiming she lied...even though she didn’t.

COGNITIVE DISSONANCE is infecting a certain subset of Free Republic commenters when they see facts they don’t agree with.

Second lowest for GOP debates so far. Wishful thinking for Fox and anti-Trumps.

I’m not voting for Trump, but I love how he is making the establishment crazy because of his disintermediation of the status quo... just like Netflix/Blockbuster and Uber/Taxis

Fox promised advertisers 15 million viewers before Trump dropped out and the debate advertising costs were based on the 15 million viewers projection.

I neither believe nor disbelieve your statement. Do you have a link to substantiate it? Just curious.

1st Fox News debate got 24 million. This one got just over half that. For Fox News to only do about the same rating wise as Fox Business is a rating disaster.

You know with all the pre-debate publicity, which Fox News thanked Trump for in advance of the debate, you would think it would have had a larger viewership.

Perhaps people were watching Trump and the Iowa game?

Everybody has their own take but the clear winner beneficiary of the alternative programming last night was CNN.

“Donald Trump’s counter-programming stunt succeeded in stealing viewers from Fox News’ Republican presidential debate.”
http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/29/media/republican-debate-ratings-donald-trump/

“By comparison, two of the cable channels that showed parts of Trump’s fundraising event, CNN and MSNBC, had about 2.7 million viewers combined. A plethora of smaller outlets also televised and streamed Trump, but no further viewership data is available.
Practically speaking, there is no way Trump’s event could have out-rated the debate. But ratings experts said Trump did appear to take a chunk out of Fox’s audience.”

CNN and Fox News are on a relatively even playing field in terms of reach into cable homes. And Thursday’s debate didn’t come close to matching December’s totals.

Many people don’t have Fox Business. Not on many Time Warner packages so obviously the ratings were lower for that debate.

Just a reminder of how the “give the money to the veterans” thing started. Trump knew that the media was raking in the money. He explained this over and over. The debates are a public service..

Billionaire Points to 4,000% Increase in Cost for Commercials
“Mr. Trump said CNN should view the debate “as a public service and not accept the massive profits that this airing will generate,” suggesting they instead go to various veterans’ groups.”

I don’t think he made an unreasonable request, no more than a football game gets a revenue share....

Of course, this is one reason why Trump is rich...he just thinks differently than other people...

Just to finish off...more on debate ad rates...
http://adage.com/article/media/trump-cnn-donate-ad-revenue-gop-debate/300281/
CNN is charging a steep $200,000 for 30 seconds of commercial time in the debate, some 40 times its usual price for prime time ads, as Ad Age reported first earlier this month. That price is so elevated that Donald Trump argued CNN should give away the “massive profits,” to veterans’ groups.

Trump wants to show that Fox News lost viewership for a reason beyond ego...there is a good chance that Trump is already thinking about negotiating with a donation for the next debate with CBS news.

Trump will want to negotiate from a position of strength.

Four more debates left, CBS, CNN (2) and then, Fox News.

LOLOLOL.

Aha! Cheerleader for Fox News or maybe a stockholder?

This debate’s viewership rating is six out of seven.

I didn’t watch primarily because I don’t watch that nasty, arrogant Megyn Kelly!

Instead, I and at least 3 Million other viewers watched a wonderful, patriotic and very successful fundraiser for our Veterans hosted by Leading Candidate, Donald Trump!
