He didn't know. And it makes no difference because most people aren't paranoid nationalists who are terrified of dual citizens of Canada or any other western democracy for that matter.

Canada could grant Trump citizenship today if they wanted. Why do you give another country absolute power over what candidate you would choose to vote for? He never asked to be a dual citizen, their laws caused it to happen.
