Grow Up! How can anyone be for this spoiled brat?
The American Spectator ^ | January 30, 2016 | Thomas Sowell

Posted on 01/30/2016 12:54:47 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: "Grow up!"

It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man's spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies.

He has boasted that his followers would stick by him even if he committed murder. But is that something to boast about? Is it not an insult to his followers, if it is true? Moreover, his cockiness is misplaced, because he still does not have a majority among Republican voters, while you need a majority of all the voters to win any state in the general election.

Trump has a showman's talent for telling people what they want to hear. But you can listen in vain for a coherent argument from him, based on facts and logic, much less an understanding of the inherent limitations of the office of president.

More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said: "Constitute government how you please, infinitely the greater part of it must depend upon the exercise of the powers which are left at large to the prudence and uprightness of ministers of state."

In other words, the personal character of the people to whom you entrust the powers of government matters even more than what kinds of government institutions there are. There have been some good kings and some bad presidents, as well as vice versa.

No it isn't and it is Sowell who needs to GROW UP!

I've been listening to him and reading his columns since 1970 and this garbage isn't anything at all like him. But then, I guess that TDS is a mental disease.

I honestly cannot inagine the first 24 hours after Trump gets sworn in.

It will probably be like watching a full series of 24, every minute has been pre planned.

Hour 1.....
Hour 2.....
Hour 3.....

Every hour something YUGE, BOOM....down goes Obamacare

And that is just the first 5 minutes.

That’s fine, as long as I can throw rotten fruits and veggies at that; as was the wont of those long ago. :-)

...That was a sleazy comment!

And you support Trump - the king of sleaze, the sharp put-down clown, the braggadocio with elastic ideology and multiple marriages?

Excuse me while I laugh.

Has it occurred to you, that just perhaps it is you who has changed?

Trump isn’t “scared” of them; THEY are frightened of him and for no rational reason!

I just read the whole article. I disagree with it, except for the author's acknowledgement that the US has serious problems. I don't understand how he sees mainstream Republican pols, even those who campaign as conservatives, as the solution to anything. Mygosh, they got handed the HOR, got Boehner run out of leadership, Cantor primaried....and handed it to Paul Ryan!

What we need is a creative problem solver with enough humor and analytic skills to consider all options and put together a solution that actually solves something, and isn't controlled by what handlers demand.

That's Donald Trump. The unintended consequence of his Veteran's event is he showed us how he solves problems, brings everyone who wants to be part of the solution along for the ride, and gives credit to those who participated.

CW, at least give credit where credit is due. That Veterans benefit Trump planned was magnificent.

No, because I haven't!

I have an excellent memory and even remember the first time, in 1970, when I first heard him on the radio. I can tell you were I was, what time it was, and what he was talking about and to whom. That was 46 years ago.So don't question me about "changing" or "forgetting", either, for that matter.

The money went through Trump’s foundation, accounted for separately in that fund he set up specifically for it. Someone explained it yesterday. He had to do it through a tax-free charity that was already in place to get it done so quickly without taxes, and distributed.

Trump is a classic narcissist.

You’re his wonderful friend when you cover him with praise and adoration.

You are his enemy when you don’t, and when that happens the classic narcissist (to shore up his lost confidence) rallies his remaining “friends” and enlists them to attack the apostate.

And if they don’t, they are singled out for criticism to make them fall in line.

The narcissist wants everything and everyone to be focused on them, revolve around them.

I support our veterans and can’t thank them enough.

The Trump “support our veterans” show was to enhance Trump.

It’s always, “What’s in it for me” with him.

If you cannot see that, I can’t help it.
