There is a key point of conjunction between Nicolai Sennels' October 22, 2015 No Compulsion posting "Psychology: Deradicalizing Muslim terrorists" and the Robert R Reilly's Four Principles of Winning a War of Ideas.
That point of contact pertains to educated Muslims and radicalism.
"...wars of ideas, by definition, can only be fought by and with people who think. This defines the natural target audience for this war, the so-called 'elites.' The term 'elite' is not determined by social or economic status, but by intellectual capabilities. Trying to use ideas to influence people who do not think is an exercise in futility. Such people are led and influenced by those who do think."
This point pertains to the, more than just curious, but strategic observation, that at least in Britain, a number of highly educated Muslims have been suddenly radicalized, to the point of committing terrorism.
Reilly's fourth point about long-term idea war, includes the anecdote that "in Kashmir, radical Islamists taught their doctrines in madrassas for two decades before the occurrence of any terrorist acts. After this period of gestation, the war of ideas was already won in the minds of the students who then formed the cadre of Islamist terrorist organizations."
Reilly observes that the ideas of the founding of America were in their time, equally compelling as those driving social-media recruitment to ISIS; in the long term, the American idea is able to compete with and defeat the Islamist idea, especially in an information rich media world.
Robert R. Reilly was director of the Voice of America early in the Bush 43 Administration, author of a key strategic book pertaining to the ISIS problem, and another key book pertaining to western loss of purpose, regarding the sexual corruption roots of twilight of democratic-republicanism.
For the second of Reilly's four points regarding waging a war of ideas is, that one must, ones self, have an idea. We can defeat radical Islamism only if we can deflate the growing vacuum at the center of our own society.

We don’t even have a cure for rabies.
Thus the current state of US public education.
We need a cure for liberalism too.
There is no way to deradicalize demons. Demons march to Satan’s drum.
i support a one step deradicalization process. it employs heavy weaponry.
