When arthritis got my hands so bad I could no longer rack my Bersa.380...chosen because my hands are small. Now I carry a Taurus Ultra Lite .38 revolver. Eliminated the need to rack and take apart for cleaning. Back up is a 12 gauge pump with a handle instead of a stock. Or shoulders would take a beating, arthritis there too.
Part of my growing older was to switch to a Keltec PMR 30 which weighs nothing and has a 30 round mag. :-)
Hope they mention disparity of force, and how that works for elderly’folks, disabled folks, smaller folks, folks that are ambushed, or outnumbered. Legally allows’greater use of force under those attack conditions.
Just bought Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 380 semi-auto with laser. Its small and compact for carrying. Going to range tomorrow with hubby to get comfortable with shooting. Will take CWP class in couple of weeks. New to shooting. Going to take a while to get comfortable. I am in mid-50’s sooo we shall see.

As we age, our eyes often are the first subsystem to make it harder to shoot well.
Presbyopia ( stiffening of the lens) makes it difficult to acquire a good front sight focus and a good target at the same tie ( actually, we never really could see both at the same time but when our lens were young, they changed focus quickly giving us the appearance of seeing both front sight and target clearly simultaneously).
Our distance script give us a good target but poor or sometimes nonexistent front sight, and our near script ( in the bottom of our spectacle lens) gives us a good front sight but fuzzy or in some cases, non existent target.
What to do?
LASER? Micro red dot mounted on the slide or frame?
Will your carry gun still holster? Can you activate and acquire a sight picture/target quickly with your new technology?
How’s about a set of spectacles that allows both? A set of lenses of which your sighting eye lens is cut for arms length times 2 (hyper focal length) and the off side lens cut for distance?
Now a days you can get a cheap pair of poly spectacles at a discount optical company with such lenses for under $100.
Try it. If you simply add .5 diopter to your shooting eye lens, you may find a solution- a great front sight and a good target-the brain can merge the two images quite well.
Some shooters have special lenses cut with dedicated script as above in the upper portion of their shooting eye lens, and a normal distance/bifocal in the off eye side.
Good info. Thanks. Yes, I have presbyopia and bi-focals but still manage to be on target. Hopefully the one in front of me and not the ones stacked in the storage bin. lol!.
I have also been thinking of trying something like that as well.
Was looking at the Ruger 22/45 but it has only a 10 round mag. The 1911 grip is a plus ++ for me.
30 rounds is nice too.

The foot’s a start; the rest of them will probably land in your sights shortly.
The PMR 30 is a .22 magnum. There is a long waiting list but sometimes you can find an FFL dealer selling a new one in the box on Gunbroker.com.
I waited a year and a half on backorder at Impact.
I can still assume a prone position pretty well, too. It's the getting up again part that's getting tougher. And I can't reload my Smith as fast as I used to because my arms aren't long enough anymore. But old? Heck no, it's just a state of mind.

Looks like a nice piece, hubby bought the shot gun with a pistol grip as his shoulders are full of arthritis. He just had the should ball replaced in the left one. Had to go through the Rotator Cuff to do it. Ran out all his Medicare Rehab, still in pain 8 months later.
I’ll stick to my revolver as I can handle it well, if I have to there is a loaded and ready to fire 9mm Ruger in the gun safe along with extra loaded clips. Dogs that bark are good warning systems too. We moved out of Memphis and Shelby Co TN because of the crime issue.
yea,it’s not good to conseal but fun to shoot.
