"I really appreciate the support given to me by the evangelicals. They've been incredible. Every poll shows how well I'm doing with them," Trump says in the ad, filmed from what appears to be his office in Trump Tower.
"And, you know, my mother gave me this Bible, this very Bible, many years ago," he added, holding up the holy book to the camera.
"In fact, it's her writing, right here. She wrote the name and the address, and it's just very special to me."
The billionaire businessman closed the 30-second spot by vowing he would never let the evangelical community down.
"And, again, I want to thank the evangelicals. I will never let you down," he said.

Well, the Donald has found something truly wonderful to brag about.

I’ve been on this website off and on for more than 15 years and I am disgusted by the support for Donald Trump and the attacks on Ted Cruz and his supporters, who have been called “idiots and morons.” Maybe the Trump supporters can show me where Cruz supporters have used such name-calling, but I doubt it. After holding my nose to vote for Dole, McCain and Romney, there is, I expect, no way, I’ll vote for Trump — most likely ever. He is a serial adulterer, former or current strip club owner and a fake Christian, who knows NOTHING about the Bible. He can’t identify a favorite verse, he throws Tony Perkins under the bus for his mistake (two Corinthians). I have worked for pro-life causes for 40 years and the very thought of Trump of appointing Supreme Court justices makes me ill. Trump’s little comment that his pro-abortion federal judge sister would make a phenomenal SC justice is pathetic. This is the man that many people on this website want for president and to make SC appointments. Yuck.
And I don’t know anyone who has used the RSV in the last 25 years.
What are some of these jabs I am hearing about judging based on how old someone’s Bible is? Do you really think American votes care, or base such a thing on who they will vote for?
I suppose King George had a family Bible a lot older than George Washington’s - and? So that means King George would have been a better leader for America than George Washington?

Ronald Reagan used his Family Bible given to him by his mother for his Presidential Oath of Office.
I guess some of you think Reagan isn’t a “true conservative” because his Bible didn’t go back four generations? The same Bible he also shared in one of his campaign stops in California?
Are these some Cruz supporters egging on this lame agenda? What the hell is wrong with some of these people? Next another “Two” verse “Secund” (verse) nutty stuff, I didn’t know Jesus spoke King James English, I thought he spoke Aramaic and a lot of the Bible was written in Greek.
How shocking, Trump shared a Bible that didn’t go back four generations. How many Christians in Europe and elsewhere cannot either because they lost their family Bible to some garbage heap when the Nazis dragged them off to prison or concentration camps?
You know, you are not better than anyone else just because you have a family Bible from 1849, Jimmy Carter had a family Bible going back four generations and he was the third worst President after Obama and Buchanan. Real diggers around this post. Do you understand what the American voter is going to think of whoever the candidate is that’s supposidly being “promoted” with such bizarre line of thinking by “supporters”? They will reject such ideations in no small way and show them all to the door. And say, take your family Bible with you, don’t think yours is better than mine or whatever Holy Book I have just because yours goes back to the slavery days.
Some people really know how to lose the farm and the election.
I wasn’t bashing the man, and I didn’t know his mother was an immigrant. Asking such questions is generally indicative of something called curiosity.

It’s the new item I can’t find in my Bible wherein grace is apparently not a gift from Christ to each person but is somehow inherited or imbued with the generational use of family Bibles.
I’ve said nothing about his family Bible, but please get real. The last person we need in the White House is a serial adulterer and strip club owner. As a pro-life person, it makes me sick to think of him appointing SC justices. He does not have the moral character to be in the WH.
I wonder why the family bible is only 2 generations? My family’s bible is at least 5 generations and there are additional notations for the 6th generation before my own.

My mother passed away on Dec.18, 2015, she was 95 years old. The only personal possession she had, that I wanted was a bible that my wife and I gave to her and my father, 50 years ago. My dad predeceased her by several years.
I opened the bible and read the inscription. We had given her that bible on Dec.18, 1965. Exactly 50 years to the date of her death
That bible, though not “ancient”, is a tremendous consolation to me.
We had 7 kids....my mom didn’t have 7 bibles to pass down. You are making way too much out of this.
Unfortunately, many of the same people taken in by Trump have been taken in by the likes of Jimmy Swaggert, Bob Tilton, and many others. I’m saddened to see religious voters (and veterans) rolled out as political suckers whistling behind the next Pied Piper. I’d bet that Trump hadn’t touched that Bible since the day his mother gave it to him until he needed to wave to a crowd of desperate to believe suckers at campaign rallies.
We’re ALL sinners. At least he’s not walking around judging you, and others, as to status of their relationship with God.
Who are you to judge? By your statement, you’ve show how far you need to go to act like a Christian.

If his faith were real, he’d never consider this sham.
I wish that people who judge Trumps faith were smart enough to realize the founding fathers wrote rule of law to elect the most qualified leader, not the best Christian qualified to be president.
At this point, this dude is nothing more than a TV performer.
