Cruz hits The Donald on 'TrumpCare'
Politico ^ | February 1, 2016 | Dan Diamond with Joanne Kenen

Posted on 02/01/2016 7:36:04 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

CRUZ HITS TRUMP ON HEALTH CARE - AND HE'S KIND OF RIGHT - Locked in a close battle in Iowa, Ted Cruz is turning to health care in an attempt to separate himself from rival Donald Trump. A brutal ad airing in Iowa links "HillaryCare" and "ObamaCare" with "TrumpCare" - and uses Trump's own words against him.

"Everybody's got to be covered, this is an un-Republican thing for me to say," the ad quotes Trump saying on 60 Minutes last fall. "[And] the government's gonna pay for it."

Cruz pushed this message further on several Sunday shows. "A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for ObamaCare," Cruz claimed on Meet The Press. "Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have the identical position on health care. Which is they want to put the government in charge of you and your doctor. Now my views are polar opposites."

- TrumpCare remains vaguely defined. Trump called Cruz a "total liar" and declared, "I am so against Obamacare." But the thing is, Trump has repeatedly reiterated his commitment to some form of universal coverage - just as Cruz suggests. However, we still don't know any specifics of a Trump health plan, or how he'd pay for it.

Pressed again on Sunday, he still refused to offer details. "We'll work something out," Trump said on ABC's This Week. "Nobody knows health care better than Donald Trump."

As long as the government pays for it I am fine. If the taxpayers had to pay for it, than I would have a problem.

Oh wait.......

Once again, Me Too Teddy can only talk trash without offering his own alternative?

That was his problem during the shutdown - only offered the critique without also providing the solution. In the real world, outside of government, if you complain you need to be ready to offer a solution.

Rafael is once again being a negative politician. Instead of bitching about your opponent, let’s hear him sing the praises of HIS PLAN.

Oh wait, he doesn’t have one.

Someone send him a VIOLATION letter!

So how does Cruz's plan help destitute people afford health insurance?

How does Trump's "we'll work something out" plan do that?

This coming from a Trump supporter is just hilarious!

Cruz should be talking about his own plan for healthcare instead of squawking about Trump.

Tell that to Trump.

Trump: Cruz is a nasty person.

Trump: Cruz is an anchor baby.

Trump: Cruz is a liar.

Trump: Cruz is owned by [fill in the blank].

Trump: No one in the Senate likes Cruz (but I will make deals with Pelosi, Reid/Schumer).

I agree. Trump has repeatedly signaled he favors a national health care system. He may "repeal and replace" Obamacare, but I would be just as concerned with what he replaces it.

Me Too Ted was handing out soccer balls to illegals with Beck.

When Trump called for a ban on all Muslims coming in, Ted called for a halt from “some countries”. Jihadis from England for example would be allowed in.

As others have said, Trump has HR professionals who deal with the purchase of health care in multiple states.

----------------

To be honest - I am sick of so called limited govt conservatives who have hypocritically worked for the govt their whole lives. Even in his private practice Cruz dealt exclusively with govt issues. As an employee. Neither Cruz nor Rubio as life long govt employees and as lawyers have never run a large complicated business or had to deal with payroll on a weekly basis and with human resource issues.

Just because Cruz and Rubio are correct on the issues does not mean they are competent executives. That is what the presidency is - an executive leadership position. Their resume is piss poor compared to Trumps.

For one, it lowers the cost of insurance and health care by: (1) removing the massive overhead, mandatory unneeded coverage (for a trite example, you pay for abortions and transsexual surgeries under ObamaCare and would under TrumpCare) and (2) causing insurance companies and health care providers to compete in a truly free market. Prices will plummet.

For two, it helps them not be destitute by removing the crushing taxation burden imposed by ObamaCare (and which would be worse under TrumpCare) and thus helping the economy overall.

For thee, it removes the added mandatory expense of employees, lowering the cost of employees, and thus allowing employers to hire more people.

This is basic conservatism 101.

You captured Ted Cruz “exactly”, as he likes to say! Ted has be proposing and Ted has been talking, and Ted has gotten nothing done. While he was talking and proposing, Ted also burned all his bridges to the Senate and most of the House. So one can anticipate that when Ted is President he will continue to talk and propose and nothing will get done.

Here is the thing, poor people use the local emergency room for health care. That cost is either picked up by the hospital or more often then not buy local, state and federal government. Using the emergency room the is the most expense health care option by far. So Trump is actually making a proposal that would in fact save money, Cruz is not.

Another thing about emergency room care is that all the emergency room is required by law to do is to stabilize you. Once you are stable they send you home and recommend that you go see a doctor. Poor folks can not afford to see a doctor so they get send home to die. Which is why I said "Cruzs' plan is to let people die in the streets".

Trump is running the biggest con job ever in American political history.

I thought FR posters were conservative and smell a rat a mile away.

The fact that they aren’t tells me the country is screwed.

We have a chance to nominate a conservative who isn’t afraid to take on the GOPe, and most turn on him for a crony NY liberal who knows he needs to sound conservative to win votes.

I wouldn’t have believed it was possible six months ago.

[ He may “repeal and replace” Obamacare, but I would be just as concerned with what he replaces it.]

I don’t believe it will be REPLACED with a standard national insurance policy. The LAW will be replaced with one that favors interstate purchase of insurance, and a better coverage plan for those who cannot afford insurance that would not burden taxpayers.

I trust an executive with human resource experience over thousands of employees over a life long govt employee like Cruz who has never run a business, balanced a budget nor hired or fired people (nannies and babysitters don't count).
