There's Been A Big Surge In Iowa GOP Registrations — And It Could Be Great News for Donald Trump

GOP front-runner Donald Trump may have played a significant role in breaking recent precedent strongly connected to President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign.

And it could catapult him to victory in Monday's Iowa caucuses.

Between January 4 and February 1, 3,651 Iowans registered as Republicans ahead of the caucuses, according to data released Monday by the Iowa secretary of state's office.

That beat the previous high-water mark of new-voter registration between the same period during the past three election cycles, which came during then-Sen. Barack Obama's 2008 campaign. That year, 3,262 voters registered as Democrats over the same timeframe.

And per chance their candidate doesn’t get the nomination, many of them will go the route of the Paultards who infecsted caucuses around the country back in ‘08 and ‘12.

They’ll disappear.

Tell that to Barack Obama, whose 2008 Iowa caucus victory propelled him to the POTUS.

Impossible. Trump was greeted by empty seats at his latest rally. Yahoo said so.

3,200 new registrations might not seem a lot but consider that the winner of the 2012 caucus (Santorum) only received about 30,000 votes statewide. So this is ten per cent of that.

So did Fox News.

Where does it say that those 3,200 people will be voting for Don Trump? I didn’t see it.

That’s a very small percentage of the likely 120,000 or so caucus attendees, or of the over 600,000 registered Republicans. Even adding an equal number or more at-caucus registrations means this will be fought out among already registered Republicans.

Des Moines metro area will have temps in the 40s and a little rain in southwest Iowa as the caucuses begin.

3600 is about the number of frequent voters who move and re-register.

It will be interesting to learn how many were registered by each campaign.

The Matt Lewis/Campaign Leadership Institute types make a big mistake in preaching against voter registration drives. They are very short-sighted and contribute to our losses.

3600 is around 3% in a vote of 120,000. It’s enough to influence the race if they are mostly for one candidate.

They can register tonight ahead of the caucus. Trump’s is the only website that has provided information about where all the caucus locations are found, and how to register.
