What is sad is that the A10 is a 1960’s concept, a 1970’s aeroplane, and the USAF and aerospace manufacturers can’t come up with an effective replacement. .

Well, the Browning M2 .50 cal. machine gun is a nearly 100 year old design, and still does its job remarkably well.
If they can't come up with an equally effective replacement for the A-10 - and I don't think the Air Force even wants to do that because they generally don't prioritize close air support -- that would be great.
But until they do come up with that replacement, they need to keep what still works.

Why design something new when the A-10 performs its job so well?

It’s not “sad”. Nothing better has been conceived to replace it.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

USAF and aerospace manufacturers canât come up with an effective replacement. Can't??? Bullshit.
Try "aren't allowed to". The politics surrounding defense acquisition are absolutely disgusting.
