This is ridiculous. Telling voters about a breaking news story which implies there candidate is about to drop and then asking for their vote is not cheating or fraud. I am done with people acting like the Cruz campaign did anything wrong here. It was not the Cruz campaigns job to fact check CNN during the caucus and of course all campaigns are going to use the current breaking news to lobby voters that is how a caucus works. The only thing hurting the Cruz campaign right now is that Sen. Cruz is a nice enough guy that he felt bad about what happened and apologized. Really this whole thing is on CNN which got its facts wrong.

CNN NEVER said he was quitting. That’s just what Cruz’s camp spun it into. Watch the video. CNN (who I can’t stand) is actually getting blamed for something they didn’t do.

I tend to agree with your “Ted is a nice guy and apologized”, but that is not “all he needs to do”. His campaign guy, Rick Tyler, was on Morning Joe and was asked if the email that went out was “deceptive”. He answered by saying that he could show them more deceptive emails. That means “yes, it was deceptive”. Cruz needs to also talk to all his campaign staff and make it VERY CLEAR that those are not his values and that if they want to continue to work for him, there will be no more dirty tricks. THEN, I would consider this a done deal.

“The only thing hurting the Cruz campaign right now is that Sen. Cruz is a nice enough guy that he felt bad about what happened and apologized.”

An apology is by default, admission of guilt.
In effect, he said his staff willfully lied in an attempt to win the Iowa not really voting contest.

Lawyers have a problem with discerning the paradox involving-just because something isn’t illegal, is it the right thing to do?-offering an apology after the act is a blatant attempt to mitigate the repercussions.

Lawyers.

The sad thing is, with the voter intimidation tactic of mailing “violation” warnings along with this purposeful deceit, only won him one delegate. He has 8, Rubio and Trump each have seven.

His organization will lie and intimidate for only one delegate.

Who knows what this lawyer is capable of when something is worth cheating for.
