The founding fathers thought differently and I will go with them not you.
Tariff Act of 1787
"Whereas it is necessary for that support of government, for the discharge of the debts of the United States, and the encouragement and protection of manufactures, that duties be laid on goods, wares and merchandise:"[1]

Dear government, please raises taxes on American consumers.
Sincerely, Conservatives?!! Waaa?

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
Duties = tariffs

I don’t see anywhere in that article “to protect United State manufacturers and to encourage the citizens to purchase therefrom. (so that the union thugs, who didn’t yet exist, could grow fat at the expense of the consumers of said United States.)

Dave calm down the Tariff Act was the FIRST bill ever passed.
Manufacturing unions are pretty much dead and only represent 10% of that work force.

The unions will be back if we impose protectionist tariffs, because the unionized industries will be back with their overpaid, over-vacationed members.

Unions are dead and there are 28 R-T-W states with active manufacturing industries right now.

Retaliate? You’d make a poor negotiator. China is bleeding America white in trade deficits. We buy their cr*p they take our manufacturing industries and millions of jobs with it.
If America put tariffs on China it would begin the process of rebuilding our lost industries AND bring in much needed revenue. That’s Win Win as opposed to the Lose Lose that we have been subjected to year after year.
