Marginal candidates often stay in the race because they have a message they want to get out. Carson doesn’t even have that anymore, assuming he had one in the first place. The only time he’s on the tube is for debates, and the only time he’s in the news is when his staff defects or gets fired. Time to hang it up. If he truly believes God wanted him to run then I think now God’s tell him to go home.

You are right, of course. But these facts are ignored by those pushing another narrative. Of course, a campaign is nothing except driving the narrative. Each one is a mixture of truths, untruths, and omissions. Just look at the Harrison campaign way back in 1840. Nothing has changed since.
I am reminded of the story of the farmer who is in the fields plowing when he sees a skywriter spelling out the letters, G P. He takes this as a sign to go preach the gospel. After years of failure, it occurs to him that the G P was a sign by God to him to go plow.
