All the Republican candidates need to focus on saying how they are going to beat the sh** out of the Washington Cartel. We should want the candidate who will end the corruption there and who has the guts to prosecute the lawbreakers no matter how big they are.

And you totally ignored Trump’s positions on the issues we were discussing, kinda making my point.

But to the poll:

1. This is a national election, ignore the national polls at your peril. Both matter. And yes, I get that Cruz needs to make something happen in NH.

2. Who led the Iowa polls before the caucus? Who won?

Trump was looking really good when he lost and gave a good concession speech. But since then he’s jumped the shark.

He said he was going to regroup and do just that, but he seems to have trouble getting started.

Iowa polls.

Let us be real.

It was Trump’s worst polling state for 6 months.
Only during the last week before caucus,
Trump pulled ahead by average of 4 points.

You know why Iowa has a dismal record of predicting the eventual nominee?

Because winters in Iowa are brutal.
I spent 2 years in Iowa for my post-graduate degree.
Add up driving time, caucus time,
speeches by supporters of various candidates,
and you are looking at 3 to 4 hour effort.

Overall turnout barely crosses 5% of voter pool.
NH on the other hand usually has 25-30% turnout.
That is why NH has a much better record in predicting nominee.

At the time Trump made the concession speech,
Cruz campaign’s lies about Dr Carson had not surfaced.

It is amazing that bible believers like Cruz can lie.
I thought bible discourages telling lies.

Low turnout aside, Trump supporters were not as motivated to show up as Cruz supporters under the same weather conditions.

You would not be dismissing Iowa if Trump had won.

Agreed about motivation factor.

If Cruz loses in NH, what will you ascribe that loss to.

So, based on your theory, we should have never hired this president? [Reagan]

First of all, Reagan was in his mid or late 30s when he held some liberal or leftist views. Trump was 67! when he gave that gushing support for communist Bill De Blasio in 2013. And it was THIS year that he came out in support of Obama opening up to communist Cuba. He was in his MID-50s when he said he supported gays in the military AND all forms of abortion, including partial birth.

Secondly, there is a big difference between...

"Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

and...

"It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond"

--Trump referring to KGB/FSB Putin, this year, 2016

"Trump's relationship with Russia goes far back. In 1987, before the collapse of the Soviet Union, he was meeting with Soviet officials and negotiating the building of "luxury hotels" in Moscow and Leningrad .

A story at the time said Trump had met Soviet Ambassador Yuri Dubinin, who mentioned how much his daughter had admired the "opulent" Trump Tower in New York City. This led to an invitation to Trump to visit the USSR. The story said Dubinin wrote a letter to Trump, who hosted a meeting with Soviet officials in New York.

The invitation to Moscow was issued by Intourist, the giant Soviet in-country travel organization which operated all the hotels for foreigners in the Soviet Union.

Intourist was created in 1929 by Joseph Stalin and run by KGB officials. Intourist hotels were designed for wealthy foreigners, and virtually all the Intourist guides were KGB informers. In fact, one aspect of their jobs was the recruitment of foreigners. ..."

"...we are left thinking [whether] Trump understands the aggressive intentions of Vladimir Putin.

"...when Trump was asked about the nuclear balance with Russia during the most recent Republican presidential debate, he displayed ignorance of the decaying nature of the U.S. nuclear triad, which constitutes our ability to deter and survive a Russian nuclear first strike.

"Putin has just presided over a ceremony honoring the KGB's successor agencies, and the Russia Today (RT) propaganda channel has announced the grand opening of a "cultural center" dedicated to mass murderer Joseph Stalin.

It looks like Putin has outmaneuvered Obama and Trump. It is an opening for Trump's opponents, especially Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marco Rubio (R-FL). But do they have the courage to "follow the money" and hold Trump accountable for doing business with a criminal regime that threatens the survival of the United States? At the end of this money trail, they may find an explanation of why Trump is so reluctant to hold Putin responsible for his crimes.

I would attribute it to not taking are of business in NH.

Trump, as a New Yorker, has a better chance at name recognition and maybe a bit of “home field advantage”.

Cruz needs to acknowledge that and counter with things a NH voter can relate to coming from a Texan. His message needs to rise above location.

I’m no Cruz bot and was fine with either Trump or Cruz. Well not fine but would vote for either one.

But after Trump’s meltdown I don’t want him with the nukes. I think he may be going senile.

Well I'd say it's Trump's fault not Cruz.

You would have a point if Cruz had made enforcing immigration laws, building a wall and renegotiation job killing trade agreements the center piece of his campaign. Cruz did not, for months he was the "me too" candidate to just about every issue Trump raised. Now he has turned into the attack Trump 24/7 candidate. Ted also lies a lot.

Ted Cruz on Immigration

End Obama's illegal amnesty via Congress' checks & balances

Q: How to respond to the split within your party on immigration? What you're saying is that the Republicans should vote to fund the governments for all departments except one: no funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which handles immigration, rescinding President Obama's executive action, and if he vetoes that, he's responsible for shutting down the department. The problem is that's almost exactly what you did with the government shutdown across the entire government in 2013 with ObamaCare, and it backfired badly on your party.

CRUZ: All across this country, Republicans campaigned, saying: if you elect a Republican Senate, we will stop President Obama's illegal amnesty. We need to honor what we said. We should use the constitutional checks and balances that we have to rein in the abuse of power of the executive. Step #1 is if the president implements this lawless amnesty, that the Senate will not confirm any executive or judicial nominees.

Defund amnesty; and refuse any nominees until rescinded

Q: How would you rescind President Obama's executive action on immigration?

CRUZ: We should use the constitutional checks and balances that we have to rein in the abuse of power of the executive. Step #1 that I have called for is the incoming majority leader should announce if the president implements this lawless amnesty, that the Senate will not confirm any executive or judicial nominees, other than vital national security positions, for the next two years, unless and until the president ends this lawless amnesty. That is an explicit authority given to the Senate.

Q: Are you saying the Senate should refuse to confirm the president's new nominee for attorney general?

CRUZ: We have to rein in the executive. In the Federalist Papers, our Framers talked about a president who would behave like a monarch. And step #2, we've got is the power of the purse, and we should fund one at a time the critical priorities of the federal government, but also use the power of the purse to attach riders.

No path to citizenship for 1.65 million illegals in Texas

When discussing what to do about the 1.65 million illegal immigrants living in Texas, Cruz weaved into the Second Amendment, alleging his opponent didn't support gun rights. "What does this have to do with the question?" Sadler asked before fiercely denying his opponent's allegation. Cruz again said he didn't support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants living in America, while Sadler said the opposite, as expected.

Give police more power to ask about immigration status

Cruz accused Dewhurst of using his position as head of the Texas Senate to kill a bill last year that would have given police more power to ask anyone they detain about their citizenship status--a charge Dewhurst denied.

Both agreed that the US has failed to secure its border with Mexico, and said they oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants and the Obama administration's new directive allowing many young illegal immigrants brought to the US as children to be exempted from deportation.

Triple the size of the Border Patrol

Cruz on immigration: Wants to triple size of Border Patrol. Says Dewhurst supported in-state tuition for kids of illegal immigrants.

Dewhurst: I have always been against an amnesty program. "If they want to be a citizen, they ought to go home and reapply."

Dewhurst says he was against tuition for children of illegal immigrants.

Strengthen border security and increase enforcement

Ted Cruz has worked to strengthen border security and help ensure that America remains a nation of laws. Among other efforts, he has worked on efforts to increase penalties for felons who enter the country illegally.

Ted authored a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief on behalf of 10 states in Lopez v. Gonzales, urging the strictest enforcement of laws punishing those with prior felony convictions who entered the country illegally.

Cruz is a liar do not believe a liar.

So you're saying Trump told the truth, spoke from his heart, when he endorsed the communist mayor of New York in 2013. Or in 2009, supported Obama's global "apology tour" and that we should nationalize the banks? Or this year that Obama's opening up to communist Cuba is a good thing?
