CNN owes Ted Cruz an apology
The American Thinker ^ | February 5, 2016 | William Tate

Posted on 02/05/2016 2:46:29 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

CNN's broadside of Ted Cruz is wrong. The network has denied that it bears any responsibility for Cruz's camp spreading rumors that Ben Carson might be quitting the presidential race. CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin even went so far as to call Cruz's explanation "BS" on the air.

Yet the network's claim can be true only in the most deceptive - in other words, the most Clintonian - sense. Instead of what the meaning of the word is is, CNN is parsing what the word indicate means.

Somewhat ironically, the network rests much of its case on tweets rather than on-air coverage. CNN concedes that during the Iowa caucuses the network reported that Carson would not be going from Iowa to New Hampshire as the other candidates would. But after Cruz's people used the report as their reason for suggesting Carson might be getting out of the race, CNN on Wednesday declared, "Senator Cruz's claims about CNN are false. At no point did the network indicate Dr. Carson would suspend his campaign."

While their embeds in the field may never have specifically reported that Carson was out, the network's live coverage - which included star anchor and face of CNN Anderson Cooper - not only operated on the assumption that Carson was withdrawing, but actually included speculation of where his voters would go after Carson left the race.

Here's a transcript of this segment of CNN's live Iowa coverage:

The printed word doesn't fully capture the CNN panel's air of incredulity over Carson's stated reason for not going on to New Hampshire. Watching live, it was obvious that the moderator and the panel felt that Carson's campaign was toast.

Pathetic and lame. Team Cruz made their bed with a lie they unilaterally made up - it’s theirs to sleep in.

Objectivity is something you lack.

Ad hominem. Cute.

It’s all you have when the “principled” conservative turns out to not be so “principled” after all. That too was a lie.

No comment on his beverage choice, but his musical taste is broad-ranging and consistently top notch.

Amazing the logical contortions people go through trying to obfuscate and equivocate away what Ted did. Stunning actually.

Absolutely amazing. After Romney everyone here "said" they wanted a fighter. Well, Cruz is a fighter. I don't know a lot about bossing, but I do know when your opponent drops his guard and exposes his chin, you hit him in his face.

It's pretty basic.

“Mr. Whiskey, I think you need to switch to another beverage.”

FWIW, I don’t drink alcohol. Although I worked as a cocktail bartender and bar manager for a number of years starting as a teenager, I rarely drank alcoholic beverages and no more than one or two when I did. I have a fine bottle of 20 year old unblended scotch whisky that is now 38 years old, and it looks like it may last indefinitely at the current rate of consumption, unless I sip a few straight shots for the mellow aroma some day in the future. My Stolichnaya dates from shortly after Brezhnev came to power, and when it was virtually impossible to acquire such a bottle of vodka in the United States. I still have a couple of dozen bottles of spirits and liquors left over from the party for Christmas 1975. Pity I can’t give them to you.

Oh, and by the way, WhiskeyX = Whiskey X-ray = Air Force and Army phonetic for WX = Air Force and Army acronym for Weather

Cruz is a cheat. Not the same as a fighter by any means.

My wife and I were just discussing that very point. We question the ethics of what the Cruz team did, however if Carson's organization was strong enough, his supporters could have easily refuted the story at the Caucus's. If Cruz does get the nomination he certainly will use every advantage possible to defeat the Dems. I'm starting to lean Cruz. He would be the most Conservative candidate we have had in years and he will be tenacious in his pursuit to win the Presidency.

For a NY’er, the naivete is striking.

You ever been involved in a local political campaign or do you simply do politics through the internet?

CNN claims there on-air report - 15 minutes before the start of the caucus - was nothing more than ‘BREAKING NEWS - BEN CARSON NEEDS A CHANGE OF CLOTHES’.

I would accuse CNN of ‘blatant dishonesty and lack of integrity’, but there claim is beyond ridiculous.

Or, at least I thought so. I laughed when I first heard them come out with their lame excuse. Not laughing now...people believe them...breaking news...ben needs clean socks...cnn...news...clean socks...smh...

Cruz cannot be trusted.

Just like every other politician and candidate for political office, including the Presidency.

Why is this a surprise to people? They're all lying crooks. Every last one of 'em. When will this country wake up to that fact?
