Conservative Or Egoist? (Our Support For Trump & Cruz)
Truth Based Logic Website ^ | February 4, 2016 | William Flax

There is no real litmus test for Conservatism; as should be obvious to anyone on brief reflection. Conservatism is--and always has been, as the term connotes--about preserving what one considers important, in a social, cultural, historic & genetic heritage. One person may be more focused on one aspect, another on another. There is no natural law that demands that all have the same focus--indeed, the notion flies in the face of the concept that man is Blessed with Free Will; with freedom to decide priorities--and, of course, bear the consequences.

Conservatism is about preserving social--both cultural & material, as well as spiritual, family & historic--achievement. It is not about the purity of particular stands on particular issues; not judged by an arbitrary check list; nor about the weight to be given to any particular stand, in understanding the total perspective of any subject. Attempts to redefine "conservatism," so as to measure adherence to an arbitrary litmus test, do not measure conservatism, but the subjectivity of the litmus test designer--one who, whether or not truly conservative is, at least to the extent that he deigns to measure others by so subjective a standard, clearly an egoist.

Consistent with the neutral stand that I have taken in a number of threads, over the past few weeks, urging Conservatives not to get drawn into nasty or unfair attacks on either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz, I have posted a piece at my Conservative Resource Center, further developing that theme. The point, there, is as I have argued at Free Republic: The two candidates appeal to different, but still Conservative factions, that truly complement each other; and we need the supporters of both to rally back together at some point, if we are going to turn America back to her heritage.

“Egoist”? Another almost certainly meaningless, undefined word, like “racist” and sexist”?

It’s the Leftist hatred of people just being people -the spirit of anti-christ - a hatred of individual freedom of people to be who they are and do what the choose to do as long as it doesn’t interfere with other’s freedoms (no one has the “right” to not be offended - offense is the problem of the one offended unless actual trespass or assault is committed).

Best post in a long time around here. Trump and Cruz voters are essentially one in the same, but taking two different roads to take the country back. At some point those two roads have to intersect again if there is any chance to defeat the left in November.

Hopefully that will happen, but I do have my concerns. I would vote for Cruz should he win the nomination, even though I support Trump. For to not do so would aid either Clinton or Sanders. Both would be a disaster.

There are 2 or 3 FR posters in particular who are posing as Cruz supporters but are in fact doing the work of those groups who wish to bust the conservatives apart, at least on Free Republic.

Avoid taking sides in the fabricated Trump vs. Cruz dust-ups on FR.
Both the RNC and the DNC are pleased by the split that has happened here.
Remove the fuel from the fire that the disrupters have set.
These interlopers are easy to recognize.
Be on guard against their trained tactics that divide conservatives.

Both Cruz and Trump have their strong points, and there has been more than a few hints from both camps that if one wins the nomination, he will tap the other as his VP.

So let me accentuate the positives of both men.

1) Trump is the very definition of “bold”. He has identified some of America’s very worst contemporary problems, and is blunt about their solutions. He rallies and stimulates the people as a leader who will *do*, not just bloviate. He may be enough of a “muleskinner”, to beat the weaklings in congress over the head with a 2x4 to make them act.

2) Cruz is by all accounts a genius. He has a clear vision of the problems in the mechanism of government, often going back more than a hundred years. So he is less involved in fixing the acute problems than fixing the whole machine, figuring that if he can make it work as it was intended to work, if will fix the problems faster and better, and its repairs will last beyond the next worthless president.

So add the two together as a functional team and you have a very, very powerful combination.

As far as shortcomings go, Trump has a strong need for core philosophical values. This needs considerable rigidity of character, not pragmatism.

Cruz, for his part, falls short on charisma. He needs someone to pound the bully pulpit for him, who appeals more to emotions and less to thought. He also needs to have someone to watch his back, as there are a thousand, ten thousand knives out there with his name on them.

Small chance of that happening if Ted Cruz wins the nomination. In fact they would probably throw their support behind the Democratic nominee.

I was certainly not suggesting that the narrowly focused folk at National Review, and those at other nominally "Conservative" publications, who try to label Trump as a "populist," are actual Leftists, when I criticize them as "egoists." I do not think that you will find anything like that in my article.

The fault of the "egoists," mentioned, is that they arrogantly choose to grade others by their own very parochial definitions of "Conservatism." They are just too full of themselves--as well as too content to try to humor the "politically correct"--most of the latter, of course, being Leftist motivated.

But, again, the "egoist" label goes to their arrogant endeavors to police the rest of us.

This is a good and wise post to think about. We need a strong voice and a wise voice....two people is how it appears to be shaping up to be.

They need to speak and TEACH as one. The tribulation our country must go through to repair what has been done, won’t be easy, it will be painful.

19 trillion in debt isn’t going to just vanish, it is going to haunt the next several administrations. The influx of open borders, crime, war, the horizon doesn’t bode well for the next President. I look at all the candidates running and sometimes ponder, “why the hell would they even want this?” Then again, maybe that is why the only candidates running on the democrat side are a treasonous liar and an open socialist?

For President, I’d like someone who is steadfast and consistent, with understanding of the problems and how the Constitution is our guiding document out of this mess.

A Vice President who isn’t just some figurehead, but one who takes on the roll of lead negotiator, tough, thoughtful, and the mouth piece to the media.

There is a whole class of people dependent on the government instead of on their own God given abilities, whole groups of teacher’s unions brainwashing our children about ‘social justice and secular morality’ instead of education, competition, and learning how to win and lose. We’ve cranked a generation of ‘snowflakes’ instead of adults with true critical thinking skills.

Yeah...why would anyone want to be President at this time? And yet, look at all the candidates Republicans have put on the field. Some good, some bad, some just so-so....

Desire, heart, and patriotism isn’t going to be enough this election. We need the one(s) with the courage, smarts, and ability to unravel this mess the democrats have created and one(s) who can educate the American People who have been mislead by decades of propaganda and false teachings.

Ted Cruz as President
Trump as Vice President(anyone else won’t get the job done)

And

Rush Limbaugh as Press Secretary
Mark Levin for the DOJ

The GOPe are the progressives who have infiltrated the GOP party and delivered America to the Progressive Left who have completely taken over the Democratic party. We have had a coup, and the Progressive vs American values war must begin.

The GOPe has been outed and they are NOT US. And they for the first time in years have stumbled and lost their iron grip on the debate. It is time to take them out, and take America back. Trump and Cruz are the only ones who see this, and are our only hope to not loose all our freedoms to the Socialist subversives.

Nothing wrong with ego, race, or sex. It’s just people. Let’s not buy the Leftist hatred of people’s freedom to be people. Leftists hate freedom because they themselves are so miserable, they want everyone to have “equal” misery.

I think Cruz has charisma, when his voice is fresh. He has lost something lately, in the heavy campaign schedule.

I think that Trump may be more philosophical than most give him credit for, when--and this is the key ingredient--something forces him to focus on the deeper significance of current phenomena. The difference between the two--or for that matter between any of us--comes down to our perspective & focus.
