I wish someone up there would say that the feat of collateral damage should not drive our strategy. We firebombed Dresden, Hamburg, Tokyo, etc. without regard for collateral damage. In fact, there is good evidence that killing as many civilians as possible was the objective. Fighting wars antiseptically is a luxury for countries that don’t really consider the enemy a real threat to their security. If we really want to win, we don’t limit our options. War is Hell and I have seen it firsthand.
