FR THREAD: Who Has the Best Tax Plan? - What gives Ted Cruz the edge [Feb 7, 2016]

The Ted Cruz Tax Plan

The man has done his homework and understands the issues.

Watch how Ted Cruz explains to an angry farmer, who eventually quiets down to listen, how he is going to help farmers.

All subsidies - across the board - oil, gas, wind, solar, ethanol are gone; EPA fuel blend, gone.

Death tax, gone.

Happy Iowan: How Cruz Crushed Ethanol [and helps farmers] - "Hot d*mn!" a gentleman shouted from the back of the room. Feb 3rd FR THREAD

You know what Ted needs to really do Trump in.

Just one more debate.

Seven was just one too few.

I wonder if many Trump supporters are thinking Trump will make them rich, like a prosperity preacher in the political arena. It is fascinating what the imagination can do with wishful thinkers dedicated to ignoring facts.

With the gold standard and no tariffs the gold just flows out as fast as the fiat currency. Now, that's a good idea, drain what gold reserves we have left right along with the jobs and industry.

We were a strong nation because we cared enough about being a strong nation to protect industry and working folks in this country with tariffs, read some history. Protecting US industry and by doing that working people as well is what built this country, not globalism disguised as "free trade" no matter what the people profiting from helping to flush this nation down the toilet say to the contrary.

There is nothing “Reaganesque” about a 16% VAT tax. Reagan correctly called VAT taxes the worst of all taxes, because they are invisible and hurt businesses and consumers alike.

All we heard for month after month is “Just wait until the Debates, Ted Cruz is a Master Debater and he will lay waste to all opponents”.

Well, we’re waiting....

Cruz hasn’t made the sale even on FR, now you’re trying to tell us that if only he could spend oh, a few hours explaining the nuanced details of his wonky tax plan, it would devastate Trump? Right....

"...a ritual genuflection toward lower taxes. All politics contains some element of this, of course: Just listen to the Democratic debaters on stage claiming that bankers nearly singlehandedly destroyed the American economy, and that ambitious programs can be financed largely by raising taxes on a tiny group of ultrawealthy people."

Fail. Lower taxes isn't the same as raising taxes on only the ultra wealthy. And calling the only thing that works - lowered taxes - a ritual genuflection is to mock it.

Garbage passing as insight. Another leftist media hack, striving to destroy civilisation.

Messiah complex
Cruz
born with a limber
mind
but
a crippled character

distilled down to
his essence
all that is
left is
a
phony

so desperate to
hide the
flaws
that make
him
unelectable

Trump's promise of a worldwide-depression-inducing tariff would be another albatross around his neck if only he were forcefully held to account. Such a Depression would not merely be Great. It would be The Greatest Depression Ever!

Trumpist protectionists would have no one to blame but themselves.

Unfortunately, the rest of us would have to suffer through it, too.

The Smoot-Hawley tariffs of the 1930s reduced US imports and exports by 65%.

You want to see jobs?

You want personal freedom and money in your pocket?

Then let Cruz abolish ObamaCare and the IRS.

That is how it’s done - not by ‘making the deal’ - especially the way Trump does it - by buying off the devil. The devil always comes back for his pound of flesh. (and just how did any of Trumps “deals” with Hillary, Pelosi, Reid etc benefit YOU or our country?)

Cruz is great one on one. It’s amazing how he can turn a voter around by calm reasoning and logic.

presidential elections are about, above all, just two things: our security and our prosperity

And with that premise, this article jumps off a cliff and dives headfirst into the rocks. Because first of all it is about trust in the competence of the candidate to do the job.

Even so, the article then argues "what is unfathomable about Cruz is that he has dealt himself a royal flush while Donald Trump is holding, at best, a pair of deuces. Cruz has presented the most impressive proposal in the field for creating a roaring Reaganesque recovery."

He then goes on: "On taxes, money, and trade Cruz's proposals are sensible and defensible. Trump's ideas do not hold up even to casual scrutiny."

But what are these proposals, or Trump's proposals? They go unmentioned.

Cruz good - Trump bad - It's 1984 folks.
