Worse than Carter’s giveaway of the Panama Canal. Heck of a job Obama!
‘Worse than Carter’s giveaway of the Panama Canal. Heck of a job Obama.’
Well said, Peyton Randolph
‘... The multistakeholder model is intended to allow virtually all users, in the public and private sector, to participate in Internet governance ...’
Governed by some kind of corperate/private sector conglomarate. Nice and confusing, and GOVERNENCE as opposed to Free Speech.
The tacit concern is over US surveillance by the NSA etc. But how does control of domain names affect that?
ICANN — ‘NN’, control of ‘names and numbers’. Internet addresses. Does NOTHING to prevent snooping by the NSA.
So we allow these guys to govern the internet:
‘... could instead be in the hands of businesses, individuals, and multiple global governments ...’
— ‘Individuals’, such as voluntary online polls. In other words, Greek ostracism of anyone that the world is angry at in the heat of the moment.
— ‘Global governments’. Most of which are dominated by totalitarian regimes.
