Gee..Didn’t U. Grant have a bankruptcy? HOw about Truman?
I believe Thomas Jefferson had 3 bankruptcies. And unlike Trump they were personal bankruptcies instead of corporations that Jefferson had an interest in. And unlike Trump, the debt didn’t get restructured and creditors eventually paid back.
Truman narrowly avoided BR after failing in a haberdasher (mens’ clothing) venture with a partner. He paid off his creditors though it was difficult, and then joined local Democrat machine politics and did well.
As head of an artillery unit in WWI, Captain Truman earned the admiration of his men for his extensive and colorful command of profanity.
Lincoln is another unsuccessful shopkeeper who turned to other ventures and did well. But Abe didn’t drink (”I prefer `Adam’s elixir’: water) and rarely swore, unless it was an essential part of a story, then kept it to a minimum.
And Andy Jackson. Don’t forget Jackson. And Robert Morris, merely the financier of the Revolution. And William Penn.
Henry Ford and Sam Colt both had companies that failed. Trump has four out of 100.
