Trump said that $8 billion would build 1,000 miles, since natural barriers (e.g. the Rio Grande) covered the other 1,000 miles. That comes to $8 million per mile.

Barriers in urban areas are more expensive than rural areas, rough terrain costs more than flat runs. Cost also varies a lot based on what kinds of barriers and features you include. It cost about $10 million per mile in San Diego, the most expensive parts built so far. $4 million per mile was an average cost for previous fixed barriers built, which included the more expensive urban segments. $8 million per mile (average) could build a robust barrier, like an fifteen or eighteen foot concrete wall with an access road along side. There are a lot of design trade offs that could be made, such as a a smaller barrier for better surveillance and alarms, better roads, a double barrier with a monitored no man's land, etc.

Most of the approximately 1,000 miles from the Pacific to Texas already has some form of barrier, from past efforts (like the Secure Fence Act of 2006, which was never completed). We have hundreds of miles of existing fence which consists only of vehicle barriers, which you could walk through.

The long stretch of border in Texas is the toughest terrain, and most of it has little significant man made barrier.

I see...thanks for the link.

fencing, which just isn’t accurate. “[W]e only have 652 miles of the 700 miles of fence required by current law,” McCaul’s committee staff wrote in the talking points. “Of that, 353.8 miles is pedestrian fence and the remainder, 299.8 miles, is made up of vehicle barriers. The Secure Our Borders First Act completes the 700 miles of fencing.”

They have a lot of "a" fence built, it's just not adequate fencing. The vehicle barriers are useless, and the "pedestrian" fences can be easily scaled or cut. So the 652 miles of completed fence is not a real fence to keep illegals out.

And if he enacts tariffs to pay for it then American consumers will pay those.

Don't buy then don't pay. tariffs arn't mandatory taxes.

Let me fix this for you: "And if he enacts tariffs to pay for it then American consumers who choose to buy Mexican made products will pay those."

Deported? Why? I am an American by birth and heritage, on my father’s side possibly farther back than Trump’s father’s side. On my mother’s side, my family goes back more than Trump’s Scottish mother. Of course, you probably mean because I dissent from Trump and in your mind that means I should be deported.

I’m in favor of a wall, or whatever it takes. I just don’t like the charlatan Trump duping the naive with goofball lies. Be a manly candidate and say we must have it, and we’ll pay for it.

A former president of Mexico has already said Mexico will NOT pay.

I say we take the cost of illegals in this country out of the money they send back home. If there’s anything left, mama gets it.

You can do that or charge the millions of Mexicans who enter every day using BCCs. And if the Mexicans want to retaliate by charging US tourists, so what? Mexico will lose a source of revenue.

It can be worked out using diplomacy and some face-saving measures for both sides.

Trump isn’t going to let Mexico build The Wall, nor should he, they are not to be trusted for that part of this important project.

Mexico’s part is to pay for it.

Y’all seen this yet?

http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/02/09/prescient-trump-hidden-report-mexico-remittances-total-more-than-entire-mexican-oil-revenue/

Prescient Trump- Hidden Report: Mexican Remittances Total More Than Entire Mexican Oil Revenue. . .

excerpt:

“(Mexico) Remittances sent home by Mexicans working outside the country surpassed petroleum revenues in 2015 for the first time. There was a 4.75% increase in money sent from abroad, most of which comes from the U.S., to total US $24.8 billion last year, up from $23.6 billion in 2014, said the Bank of México.

The bank said it was the first time remittances had totaled more than petroleum revenues since it began tracking them in 1995. Oil revenues last year totaled $23.4 billion.

An important factor in the increase in remittances is the jobs created by economic recovery in the U.S. Some 11 million Mexicans are believed to be living in the U.S. and many work in construction. Remittances, 97% of which are sent electronically, averaged $292 last year. (link)”

My add: And this is just remittances back to Mexico. Add up what H1Bs & muslims are sending home, too

Is it any wonder the country is just about flat broke?

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. ON TIME & UNDER BUDGET!!

GO TRUMP GO!!

What’s he telling us for, Mexico is going to build it.

Mexico will pay for the wall. It will be stamped "Made in the USA".

Actually, the only way a wall will ever get built is if the Mexicans build it on their side of the border.

Think about it - it makes sense

Stop the outrage posted below and then eliminate all welfare costs to any illegal in America, and the wall will be paid for.

Obamacare Immigrants: $750 Million In Subsidies Paid To 500,000 Ineligible Immigrants (REPORT)
HNGN ^ | Feb 09, 2016 | Taylor Tyler
Posted on 2/9/2016, 6:55:06 AM by xzins

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, has paid out more than $750 million in taxpayer subsidies to more than half a million illegal immigrants and immigrants whose legal status was not verified, according to a new Senate report seen by Fox News.

As of June 2015, “the Administration awarded approximately $750 million in tax credits on behalf of individuals who were later determined to be ineligible because they failed to verify their citizenship, status as a national, or legal presence,” said the report from Republicans on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, reported Fox News.

The report found that taxpayers helped pay for health insurance for more than 500,000 people who were either illegal immigrants or had failed to verify their citizenship or immigration status. The $750 million in questionable payments divided by the approximately 500,000 recipients comes to about $1,600 in premium tax credits per person, notes Breitbart.

Also charge 25% for each money order/wire transfer going to Mexico. 15% for the state where the money was made, and 10% to pay for the wall.

Stop all foreign going to Mexico to help pay for the wall.

No, that doesn’t make sense at all, we want full control of The Wall. Not shared control.

Farmers and ranchers often erect fences that are slightly set back from the neighbors land, in part, for that very reason, and that’s what will happen here too,

Just tax Western Union 50% for all funds originating in the United States going to Mexico
********************
That’s how I’d do it ,,, 50% is too high and would reduce transfers but 10% would work... and I’d make it on all transfers out of the US to a private party where the sender would or could not provide a valid SSN and gov’t issued id card.

Saw this being discussed on CNN this afternoon.

They said, “$8 billion is just of fraction of the cost to deport those already here, and Paul Ryan won’t give Trump the money for that.”
******************
It’s good to be the King! ,, just kill the EPA (under the executive) and divert their funds... PRESTO!
