TRUMP WILL PULL A CLINTON

I never tried so hard in my life to get that tax cut, but I just couldn’t...

I agree. I prefer Cruz, but we win with either man.

The art of leadership is to inspire and to be able to advance an agenda even when you need to do it with people who don’t necessarily like you or agree with you. Trump has a demonstrated track record of doing just that, which is why this is his race to lose at this point.

Agree. I think Cruz actually is making a strategic error by trying to win the nomination. Since the establishment is so entrenched and he’s so young, the long game would be better for him. He’s got lots of time.

Think of a football analogy. Let Trump be the bruising fullback that will pound away, wear down and weaken the other team. Then when they are softened up, then the quick halfback can come in and gouge the defense for big yards.

Cruz would be better served by staying positive, even if it means he comes in a distant second to Trump. He could shoot for VP, get more seasoned for 4 or 8 years, assist Trump in pounding the DC Uniparty, then he takes the lead and can take the next steps in finishing the job of restoration.

If Cruz gets the nomination now, I can easily see the Uniparty either going with the Democrat, or even if Cruz wins, ensure that he’s a one-termer and not effective. Let Trump do the first efforts, the dirtiest work, setting the stage for Cruz in 4 or 8 years.

Thanks Jim, for this message.

As a longtime Freeper (albeit mostly a lurker nowadays), I have been very disheartened by the animosity between many pro-Cruz and pro-Trump posters. We should be better than that. We all have a common enemy.

I am a Cruz supporter, as I feel he would be the better and most consistently conservative President. But I admit openly that I have enjoyed watching Trump tear into the media and the Dems with relish and outspokenness and anti-PC rhetoric. I could gladly vote for him were he the nominee.

We are all on the same side. Let's try and remember that.

You said it yourself Jim:

"Don't look now, but while our best conservative is running a political campaign, Trump is leading a rebellion. Not as a liberal or a conservative politician, but as a successful red-blooded, can-do American capitalist."

If the borders are not brought under control, we won't have a Nation left. Trump is the one on record to build that wall, deport the illegals, AND yes: allow them to RE-apply for entry LEGALLY and play by the rules.

We are not only a nation of laws, we are (or should be) a nation of enforceable borders.

Donald Trump is an egotistical, vulgar bully. He is not a conservative. Yet he has tapped into the American angst and is willing to rub the noses of the elite and establishment types in to their collective politically correct feces. If the nominee is not going to be Cruz, Trump is worthy of support at least to make America's royalty uncomfortable.

Cruz cannot be trusted considering:
- Recent support of TPA
- Corker’s Iranian Nukes
- Amnesty
- His dubious dishonesty of GoldmanSachs, CitiBank “loans”
- Nixonian dirty tricks in Iowa

...and his weak, p***y “innerness” to stand up to evil (i.e. afraid to state water boarding or worse should be used on the evil of islam)

Thanks, Jim. Great, timely post.

I hope whichever of the two is the nominee the FR crowd will join up and fly wing.

There is too much at stake. We need our Constitutional Republic back.

Yes we win with Trump, Cruz, or Trump/Cruz.

But unfortunately a lot of people are now burning bridges between the two camps. It is sad because sheep are falling prey to professional propagandists. And I mean on both sides.

I would like to see the same rebellion in Oregon. And then California and Washington.

A couple of positives,

Cruz could end up as VP for eight years then President for eight years,

Trump CAN outright shut down select out of control alphabet agencies, seize their records, and appoint special prosecutors. It's a hard way to fix things, but Constitutional.

Nothing shows how polarized our country has become as much as the candidacies of Trump and Sanders. The supporters of both are strongly passionate about them. But the similarities stop there.

Trump’s message resonates with everyone who expects to be rewarded for their hard work.

Sanders’ message resonates with everyone else who expects to be rewarded just for existing.

And that’s a heck of a divide.
