Here’s the difference between a “conservative” and a “nationalist”.

A nationalist cares about American workers because they are his brothers and sisters. A nationalist knows if there are no jobs for American workers that they can do, they won’t form families, their lives will follow a downward trajectory, they will fall victim to drugs and transient relationships, and that our communities will suffer as a result.

A conservative may dislike or even hate these outcomes, but he will say that it is the fault of the American workers, because either they have character defects or because they ask too much from their employers (via unions or otherwise), so it follows that sending their jobs to China and Malaysia is BETTER that keeping them here, because keeping them here involves some things that are not “conservative”.

Well, if that is conservatism, screw it. I was raised to love my country and her people, I hate what globalism has done and is doing to her and to them, and in the few years I have left I am committed to destroy the poison of globalism and to make America great again. That’s nationalism, that’s what I believe in.

Thanks, but I already know the difference. Nationalists are just right-leaning statists. Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, all nationalists, and all statists. I believe the state is beholden to the people, and not the other way around, while nationalists believe otherwise. I believe state interference in our economy does more harm than good, while nationalists believe the opposite. Nationalists believe the ends justify the means, while I believe the ends aren’t worth achieving if you sacrifice your principles along the way.

I am a conservative, not a nationalist. I’d certainly be willing to ally with nationalists until the Marxists are gone, but that would just be postponing an inevitable confrontation with the nationalists themselves, because conservatism, Republicanism, classical liberalism, the basis of our American values, are not compatible with nationalism.

Maybe Trump should run as a Nationalist - new third party. By your definitions, I’m on of ‘em.
