I’d expect Trump to show up there and promise that he’ll make them move it back. Except Indiana does not vote until June 3. Will be all over but the shouting by then.

Yeah we were able to vote Hillary for OpChaos 2008, but that’s been the only consequential primary vote I’ve made in a long time.

Actually, according to the Reciprocal Tariff Act of 1934, the President has a large amount of power in dealing with tariffs....

So little manufacturing is done here anymore, I don’t know that saying "I won’t buy from Carrier" makes a difference.

It's why Trump will tax the sh*t out of these folks on every foreign make product they ship back.

They next company will think hard about shipping 2k more American jobs to Mexico.

“Dang it! I thought you meant an aircraft carrier. As if Bathhouse would use it.”

Not to worry. If Trump gets in, it’ll be a carrier and the 1st Marine Division.

I was wondering if it was the Gerald Ford or the Ronald
Reagan?

I am sure Carrier will announce an across the board price reduction on all it's products due to lower operating costs. /SARC

Is Indiana an R-T-W state?

I also had a career in manufacturing. I cringe as I hear this news. I was somewhat fortunate, working in the defense industry; it took longer to decimate but a ton of what we used to make and were the FIRST to make, have been outsourced. There are still pockets of manufacturing, really good manufacturing, in many parts of the country. As my company stopped building much of what we used to, we had/have a decent supply chain of smaller manufacturers in this country. That base is critical but it needs to grow exponentially.

Yes, but only in the area of REDUCING tariifs - not in raising them.

"The Act served as an institutional reform intended to authorize the president to negotiate with foreign nations to reduce tariffs in return for reciprocal reductions in tariffs in the United States."

"Another key feature of the RTAA was the fact that if Congress wanted to repeal a tariff reduction, it would take a two-thirds supermajority."

And even if the president negotiated a change in tariffs, it had to be approved by Congress - a reduction in tariffs only required a majority vote, but an increase required a 2/3 majority.

Very sad. Willis Carrier was one of the great entrepreneur magnates of our rise to world leadership. He invented A/C when he was not long out of engineering school. It was an invention that dramatically changed the world.

When Obama lifts the border, they’ll be American jobs.

Now now, there are reasons companies move south and it’s
because of onerous taxation and regulation. Stop that
and jobs will be created right here.

Obama slapped a 30% tariff on imported zipper-head made tires in 2009. I do not recall congress having any say one way or the other.

There are so many ways around that.

Just one. The day Trump is elected, due to national security issues, we might be required to search every single vehicle/truck crossing into the U.S. I imagine it would back up traffic from from our southern points of entry to Mexico City. But national security is top priority.
