You think they really believe this stuff!
This is simple psychological warfare to intimidate your children and the weak-minded, to gain various advantages.
The people they are apologizing to, the distant relatives of slaves, certainly believe it. Meanwhile, we never hear a peep from any of them on the ongoing slave trade in Africa and the Middle East.
I'm afraid I'm completely cynical on this one and I agree.
The people pushing for these kinds of admissions/apologies etc. really don't give a rat's backside about what may or may not have happened 150+ years ago to some great grand relative.
No, it is about the money. I guarantee you. They get a few more of these kinds of things on record and the push for reparations will become a deafening din. Then a few well placed people will step in to help "organize" and "represent" and distribute said reparations...
This is not about respect, or justice - it involves neither. This is a slow motion, well planned and funded shakedown pure and simple.
