"The question would be if it were cheaper to have the government pay for the poor (i.e. the taxpayer) versus the hospitals having to jack up their charges to offset getting stiffed by the poor. Pick your poison."

The later, what we do now, is an unconstitutional taking from the providers without just compensation in my opinion. Worse it results in the other sick people having to pay more, which seems grossly unfair, like kicking a dog when it's down.

If we even get to the point of repealing Obamacare and allowing private insurance companies to compete across state lines, that would be yuuuge victory in itself.

If we also got to the point where we could decouple health insurance from employment (if it allowed everyone to pool together and reduce costs) that would also be a yuuuge victory. Having businesses reduce their expenses especially on health care should be a boon to hiring and make them more competitive.

But, what do I know? I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
