You're leaving out the "by force and violence" part of the statute. Not too many Americans point loaded weapons at Census agents.
There's a WHOLE RAFT of ways you can "impede" a "Federal official", and it doesn't have to be by force and violence.
And there's a WHOLE RAFT of "Federal officials", as you can see in my post #49.

Every year, for a few weeks, 10-20 thousand libtard hippies take over a portion of national forest somewhere in the country in late June early July. They assemble without permits, and despite the best attempts by law enforcement, continue to do this every year. The forest has 100’s of campsites with improvised structures built, rapes occur, and the presence of drugs is everywhere....
There will come “a hill to die on,” for most of us, at some point. The fascists are both despised and outnumbered - they are not indestructible. This country is neither Cuba, nor Venezuela, nor Russia - and, if they value their own, the feds had best remember that.
