Sorry, I should have explained that more clearly. I know they are talking about New York, but I was kind of referring to the whole country.
I live a dozen miles west of Manhattan in NJ, and despite the fact that NJ has a proportionate number of blacks (in relation to the rest of the country) and a very dense population, those types of race-based attacks are rare because nobody has any misconceptions in terms of race relations - it is hard for them to find unwary victims. NYC seems to have many more whites that are naïve about this.
