You see, I have been in the miserable position of being the only person in the room who was right, before. I know what it takes to stand your ground against an entire corporate food chain because you are right. I know in the end it is a thankless task, earning you enmity instead of accolades, no matter how diplomatically you conduct yourself, and the eternal resentment of most of those who were wrong, at best whispered thanks from those whose butts you saved, or tried to.
I don't blame that on Cruz, I blame it on those about him who have abdicated their responsibility to those who elected them for whatever reason.
I admire someone who will stand alone, if need be, to fulfill the trust of those who put them there to do just that, whether taking that stand produces any lasting result or not.
I do not fault your effort nor your admiration for Cruz’s character.
I don’t really disagree on that point.
However I prefer to keep things as honest as reasonably possible and consider the oft repeated lore that the Republicans did nothing to be Free Republic dogma that is in error
I want an inadvertant lurker to see that there is some sanity here
“I admire someone who will stand alone, if need be, to fulfill the trust of those who put them there to do just that, whether taking that stand produces any lasting result or not.”
I agree. The lone Chinese man standing in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square comes to mind.
However, with the mess this country is in and with the possibly irreversible damage being done to it, we need someone that WILL produce results ASAP. Talk is cheap. (Except when it’s a politician or lawyer talking; then you can bet it will cost you!)
