'cause I'm pretty sure that "national populist" thing smells a whole lot like 1933 vintage "national somethingelseism" and the whole...

...sillyness doesn't help change that perception - especially when Mr. Populist seems to have a bit of a problem articulating and supporting the various Conservative ideological foundations this Republic (ie not a populist Democracy) was built upon.
