Trump again hints at third-party run: 'The RNC is in default'
The Hill ^ | February 15, 2016 | Rebecca Savransky 3.5K1 1327

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Monday again hinted at a possible third-party run, saying that the Republican National Committee is "in default" of an agreement and is not treating him fairly.

"When somebody's in default, that means the other side can do what they have to do," he said. "The RNC is in default."

Trump signed a pledge last year to run as a Republican and not as an independent. He first raised the posibility of a third-party run in an exclusive interview with The Hill last summer.

"I signed a pledge but it's a double-edge pledge, and as far as I'm concerned they're in default of the pledge," he said at a campaign event outside of Charleston, S.C., The Guardian reported.

During a later press conference, Trump said he was disappointed with the RNC because it stacks the room at debates "with special interests and donors."

"The RNC gave all the tickets to special interests that represented Cruz and Rubio. They had all the tickets," he said. "They walked on the stage and the place went crazy."

He said he doesn't have donors or special interests.

"I think the RNC did a very poor job," he said. "We've warned them...and they don't listen."

The RNC has "total control" over Trump's competitors, he added.

"The bottom line is the RNC is controlled by the establishment and the RNC is controlled by the special interests and the donors and that's too bad," he said.

All that does is tell me that you are scared

What you're scared about is admitting that you support a candidate who has a mutant face made of bread dough.

That story was already released by the media months ago, and died.

True - Hillary and Bernie have TONS and TONS of Trump soundbites, his documented support of liberal policies - his years of membership in the Democratic party and verbal and monetary support for the current Democratic Party leadership.

You post: “I wish he would go 3rd party.”

What makes you think that hasn’t been the plan all along?

Who was the person he went to for consultation regarding running?

https://politicalwire.com/2015/08/05/trump-consulted-clinton-before-announcing-bid/

How did Bill get elected without a majority of the vote>

The billionaire buddy, PEROT - played shill and siphoned off just enough votes to hand him the election. (And then the big businessman got lots lots of big Gov’t contract.

It worked for Bill - why not repeat it for Hillary?

(Can you imagine what the Trumpsters woud be saying had it Cruz to consult with Bill about running?)

It looks like Trump is not going to get more than about 33% of the vote no matter what happens.

His best bet might be to run third party in hopes that he gets that third in such a way that he wins most states.

He should win New York and Florida. Which would be two big wins. If Cruz is the Republican candidate maybe he wins Texas. Hillary or Sanders takes California.

The test of the states are up for grabs if the independents have the final say.

Life could get very interesting.

Trump has worn out his welcome in this house.
While I like his positive statements, feel he could get this economy on track, handle trade with countries better than any of the other candidates, his negative campaign has me worn out.
IMO his constant calling the other candidates, esp.Cruz, a liar, threatening a law suit as to whether Cruz is even elegible to be President is destroying the repub candidate of winning in November.

Esp. these last few days he has taken the negativity to a whole new level.
What undecided voter would vote repub after the pounding Trump has unleashed on a ‘fellow’ Party member.
The dim candidate has the merely play Trumps words in ads.
Really bad form

I don't think Trump has any intention of winning an election for prez....he's a diversion and a destroyer of all other pub candidates....

of course, unlike many freepers who did not vote for Romney and instead voting bammy in, I will swallow my pride and vote for THE pub candidate, no matter who he is....

but we all must realize that we have been once again, become the patsies for the Rat party, and Trump is the leading rat..

It is amazing that we’re actually in the situation of having a nominee for the Republican Party that was registered Democrat, spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the most left wing leaders of the Democrat Party who spent years courting Hillary Clinton supporting her NY Senate campaign, giving the Clinton Foundation a $100,000 check, inviting the Clintons to his wedding, and you point out he consulted Bill Clinton (who he described as his favorite) before running for office. And the Trumpkins want everyone else to join them with their heads in the sand. The only reason Trump is giving the Republican establishment any grief is not because of any conservative value but a desire to work with the Democrat establishment who he brags about being on great terms with..

Its what Trump MUST do to distract from his record.

And note this: news/punditry/my own "lying eyes" describe how Trump looked "unstable" during the SC debate ("lost it" when he was booed) - even Rush concedes that this is possible due to his being booed - so what does Trump do? He calls a press conference and labels Ted Cruz "unstable" and "dishonest."

Trump is such a certifiable loose cannon he could never win the general election.

Cruz doesn’t have a chance in a general. I don’t know who a viable alternative would be at this point aside from Trump.

You’re mad at Rush? Rush has bent over backwards to be fair to Trump. Let him say something slightly contrary to the “Trump is unstoppable” narrative and you attack him as GOPe. I guess the only thing that indicates if someone is a conservative in your mind is that they agree with Trump. I suppose you’ve even come around to liking Putin to be in synch with Trump’s fondness for that mass murderer.

Trump’s competitors in the primaries have had plenty of time to try and make something stick, too. Thus far nothing has.
