Turkey is asking its coalition partners, including the United States, to take part in a joint ground operation in Syria to try to end the five-year-old civil war, a Turkish official said on Tuesday.

The official said it was now impossible to stop the war without such an operation, but that Ankara would not launch such an offensive on its own.

"Turkey is not going to have a unilateral ground operation. We are asking coalition partners that there should be a ground operation. We are discussing this with allies," the official told reporters at a briefing in Istanbul.

"We want a ground operation. ..."

100 years ago the Turks did commit genocide
on the Armenians.

THIS genocide, Turkey is helped by the EU
and the criminal, undocumented,
Moslem in the White Mosque.

Thanks but no thanks,

I see no reason for us to enter WW3 on Turkey and Saudi Arabia’s behalf. Besides, I am not convinced we would be fighting on the right side.

Obama is shockingly malicious and loves to meddle in other countries to topple leaders who are not radical enough for his tastes. My first thought when I read this was that even Obama is not evil enough to send ground troop to Syria to put terrorists in power. My second thought is that whenever I think something is too much even for Obama, I’m wrong.

Well done.

As if Turkey thinks we forgot their treachery.

They are afraid that Assad will win and the Kurds will be given a state on their border.

Plus all the money from the oil trade with ISIS has dried up.

No thanks.

They are on their own.

Not that I'm aware of. But the Saudis are now hosting a huge military exercise in the north of their country, with many Sunni nations. This could develop into a massive Sunni - Shiite war. Obviously, the US should stay out of such a war. But with our abysmal leadership, anything is possible.

So the Jerks . . . . . Uh I mean . . . Turks want us to pull their chestnuts (ISIS) out of the fire that they’ve started. By shelling positions of the duly elected government’s army of Syria in their own territory they trying to set off WWIII. I say thanks but no thanks, your on your own and fight your own battles.

We remember that well, as SGT Mr. niteowl77 Jr's first deployment to the ME was impacted by our Turkish "friends."

Turkey certainly has no problem asking Western nations to pull its chestnuts out of the fire, at least from the Crimean War onward. We already see Frau Merkel's vaunted Luftwaffe acting as Turkey's pal, just like in the first Weltkrieg; it must swell those modern Buddeckes with pride to be able to help the enablers of the very people raping his nation's women.

With the malevolent, bat-eared miscreant currently perched in the WH, I have no illusion that anything the US does vis-a-vis Syria will be beneficial to anyone who is not an islamist or islamist enabler.

Mr. niteowl77

the answer should be NO...

Turkey intends to go after the KURDS (our only true loyal allies int he area) ..... not isis, who they have supported all along..... funded via oil purchases and supported from time to time with free passage and military support...

Aside from the fact that russia has troops on the ground..... NO turkey ..... an islamic state, ARE NOT TAKING THE USA into ww3....thanks ... no thanks..

What partners? NATO? Where were they for the Baltics or Ukraine? No where to be found! If Turkey wants to fight the Ruskies why haven’t they gone in with the Saudis who are loaded to the hilt with modern arms? Muzzies like Trump supporters would say are Pussycats!-)

"They want the USA to fight along side them so that they can...what?"

They're hoping the US will shield them from a Russian attack.

Oh, and Turkey contends the war will not end until there is a Western Ground operation.

And I contend that the Syria-Russia alliance can end it just as well as anyone else.

All it takes is a winner.

This is the same country that refused to lift a finger helping us topple Saddam Husein. They would not even let us use their air space or military landing strips.

In the first Gulf war (Iraq invasion of Kuwait), we had more than 30 nations allied with us to remove Saddam’s army from Kuwait. There was one specific country absent from this coalition, (it was Turkey).

So Turkey and Erdogen can go to hell.
