I think he's referring to the years that GWB was actually president!

I was a big supporter of GWB but it infuriated me that he allowed the mainstream media to bully him and establish the general opinion that GWB was not too bright and very weak. It also infuriated me that Obama was able to cash in on that during the election, talking about how GWB and establishing the narratives that the Republicans drove this nation into a ditch and whatnot. And not one word to the contrary from GWB. The man simply didn't defend himself and as a result, he did not defend the Republican Party.

Donald Trump's mass appeal does not surprise me. The man fights.

As usual, Mr. Trump’s logic is inescapable. Bush was silent because he himself was ashamed, and rightly so.

The guy was far too petulant to put up with being anything other than a dictator. Projecting onto him a road better taken is nothing more than an exercise in creative thinking. There’s nothing wrong with creative thought, but don’t imagine that someone is going to be able to rise to the occasion simply because it would be nice if they did.

Didn’t keep him and his father from making nice nice with the former rapist president

Making nice doesn't come close. H.W. teamed up with Clinton on the Malaysia tsunami and Haiti, helping Slick funnel tens of millions of so-called "contributions" into his coffers, while rehabilitating his reputation in the process. W called Clinton his "brother from another mother." The cozy relationship between the two crime families is disgusting.

“You’re assuming he has conservative values.”

Well, Trump claims to be a conservative.

Do you know of any reason I should question Trump’s claim?

Besides, Perot was probably the single least capable candidate to handle the bully pulpit of any candidate that I’ve ever seen! Reagan OTOH excelled at it, and whaddya know, that’s also the skill being tested in this exercise of being elected!

and it hurt the Conservative movement because it looked like he was hiding in a hole escaping his record.. he left it to poor heart transplant Cheney to do all the defending of those 8 years.. that’s another reason Bush isn’t an icon down here in SC

“Donald Trump’s mass appeal does not surprise me. The man fights.”

That is an interesting comment. Can you tell us about some of the public policy fights Trump has won on behalf of us conservatives?

Why because that is what a real classy ex-President does. The next thing we know you people will be attacking his wife, the most classy first lady that has held office in 4 decades.

HUGE DITTOS!!!!!!

Laura Bush has always been my most favorite First Lady of all time.

You must have slept through 'now we have a Congress we can work with' period.

Team Bush wasn't referring to Pubbies having majorities in the House and Senate.

The DEMS have to be on cloud nine, this is more than Hillary could imagine. Two days now, we haven’t heard anything but discussion about the Iraq war, and GWB lying, not one word about Hillary’s lies, Obama’s lies. I know, I know, Bush gave us Obama, Bush surfaced, Bush is campaigning for his brother. SCREW DONALD TRUMP.

Don’t tell me to take a pill. This is garbage and it is revolting how easily people are distracted from the real deal.

You obviously are dwelling on certain posts if you are saying that Bush is the only thing being discussed here. Did you miss the Scalia commentary yesterday or were you too busy defending the indefensible?

I will say it again, I don’t care whom are candidate is as long as they are in favor of: supporting 2A, border enforcement, illegal removal, being against court enforced affirmative action, anti: uneven trade deals, Obamacare, common core, fag marriage. The one who hits all or most of these gets my vote. IOW, it is Trump or Cruz or Carson. I do not want Jebster or kasich or Rubio. That said, I will vote for whomever the GOPe candidate is as I cannot see myself not voting or voting for a dem, not today, not ever.

it was GW who coined the "religion of peace" BS

And the 'jobs Americans won't do' mantra.

That has been proven false by studies and also by hundreds of 'Americans' lining up to apply for jobs at meat processing facilities shortly after ICE made raids and detained dozens of illegals -- during the later GWBush years.

The list is for archival purpose. I don't think your parochial suggestion fits.

I am not talking about Free Republic, although there has been considerable piling on against GWB, since Trump conveniently gave the sheep a diversion. I am talking about the news, nothing but re-litigation of whether GWB could have prevented 911, Bush lied about WMD, water boarding, etc.

Donald Trump is not running a corporate takeover but he doesn’t know the difference. If he gets the nomination, is he going to sue the DNC when they put together a montage of DT excoriating GWB and the Republicans for 911, WMD, PP? He is either working for the other side or he doesn’t have any idea how it works.
