Thomas Sowell Endorses Ted Cruz
Ricochet ^ | 2/16/16 | Claire Berlinski, Ed.

Posted on 02/16/2016 5:33:10 AM PST by TBBT

Noting with sorrow Justice Scalia’s death, Sowell begs his readers to sober up:

The vacancy created on the Supreme Court makes painfully clear the huge stakes involved when we choose a President of the United States, just one of whose many powers is the power to nominate justices of the Supreme Court.

After enumerating these, and indirectly reminding readers that the next president is apt to be a wartime president, he makes his views about Trump perfectly clear:

Against this background, the frivolous rhetoric and childish antics in the televised political “debates” are painful to watch. If ever there was a time to choose a president with depth, rather than glitter or glibness, this is it.

Trump’s behavior is often that of an “overgrown spoiled brat,” he remarks:

If, by some miracle, Trump became president, what kind of president would he be? Do we need another self-centered know-it-all in the White House to replace the one we have now?

Rush seems to prefer Cruz, which I understand.

I think he also appreciates what Trump should have been teaching the GOPe, but they're so thick they don't get it.

I do think he would support Trump if he won, which is likely right now. Unlike some of the crazy Cruzerorloser voters (Cruzistheonlyoneandagod), Rush isn't going to totally throw Trump under the bus for his mistake of using leftist talking points to help destroy Jeb.

Of course it is. He’s a big fan of the Scottish and Canadian government-run systems, so that makes perfect sense to the real estate guy.

“No problem, I was gonna sit out but for the 1st time in my life I will hold my nose and vote against trump in the general.”

As will I, I don’t like Trump and I like his supporters even less.

Really??? Hillary will love you guys...Are you going to change your Party affiliation while you're at it???

I was even against Gulf War 1. When Kuwait was invaded I remembered that the US Navy had asked Kuwait for permission to preposition supplies in Kuwait in case things got hot with Iran and Kuwait refused us. We had to bring in huge barges instead. Screw them I thought at the time and I still think that. However once the fighting began I was supportive of the troops and could not believe Powell stop General Swadscof from utterly destroying Saddams’ Red Guard troops on the highway of death. Our leaders are fools.

It was a mistake only because Obama took out the residual force and cowards like Trump and Jeb ran for the hills rather than face reality. You are a coward.

Guess what my code pink friend? You can’t run from the Islamists forever.

You GOPe guys are just as dishonest as the politicians you support...Trump has layed out his healthcare plan enough times that you guys know what it is...Debate THAT if you have enough intestinal fortitude...

The one certain thing Thomas Sowell is known for is his intellectual honesty. Your post comes across as a cheap shot. I am supposing you are a Trump supporter, if that is true, please explain your support of a candidate that gave money to Al Sharpton, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi.

Thomas Sowell is a true conservative, I cannot believe on Free Republic so called conservatives are tearing him down just because they disagree with him on who he endorses.

Sowell is just following the party line.

Right. Because Sowell can't think for himself?

I’m not a Cruz supporter per se, I’m a Constitution loving American who supports principled Conservatives who ALWAYS believed in Conservatism, not a recent flip-flop, but an entire lifetime. In declaring your opposition to that says a lot about your political views a succepibility to idol worship.

When George W Bush signed the Status of Forces Agreement he, George W Bush, set in motion the destruction of Iraq. And that is a fact jack. An objective documented fact.

And I don't run from the facts like the cowardly bushbots do. Every male members of my family for three generation was worn the uniform in time of war. If our vital national interests are a stake then yes go to war. If not don't. Iraq had zero to do with 911 and had no WMDs as WMDs were understood at the time. And that is another fact jack.

But are Sewell and Levin now establishment hacks, since they don’t support Trump?

And Rush was called an “establishment hack whose mask just fell off” for saying something negative about Trump within the last week or so here.

You really are something else. Neocon mean new conservative and has zero to do with the Jewish religion. Another objective documented fact.

Neoconservatism (commonly shortened to neocon) is a political movement born in the United States during the 1960s among Democrats who became disenchanted with the party's domestic and especially foreign policy. Many of its adherents became politically famous during the Republican presidential administrations of the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Neoconservatives peaked in influence during the administrations of George W. Bush and George H W Bush, when they played a major role in promoting and planning the 2003 invasion of Iraq
