Maybe it’s misguided pearl clutching. Maybe it’s a fear of catching cooties. Either way, the stink some states are making about who can share which public restroom is truly unfortunate.
Using the bathroom is, after all, a human necessity. Gender is irrelevant to the equation.

In reading the article this is only about single stall restrooms. Why does anyone have a problem with that? I only feel sorry for the poor fool who uses the restroom after I finish.

After growing up in California, now in my later years, I recall back to my childhood and what was going on THEN in public restrooms. Back when the media printed the truth, the problem with perverts, gays, freaks of various kinds frequented, hung out in, and lived in public restrooms especially around the beach areas. It was a huge problem then and now, better a bit now, but still a problem depending on where you live.
California has no credential in this area. Only a history of sickness and perversion.

What the media doesn’t like to bring in to these conversations are the people like one man who had his ears removed by a surgeon and plans to have his nose turned into a “beak” since he wants to identify with his parrot, and the woman who identifies with a cat, and the woman who blinded hersel) in order to look like a cartoon character. Or how about the middle-aged man who identifies as a little girl who left his wife and now lives as an “adopted child” of another couple (three adults in this arrangement, pretending to be parents-child, and more likely than not the “parents” are sexually involved with this “child”).
The article is dishonestly conflating single-occupant restrooms with multi-stall institutional toilet facilities. You’re right - no one cares who uses the single stall toilet - as long as it’s one at a time.
I strongly suspect that they hold a “do as I say, not as I do” attitude.
Any pervert going into the wrong-sex bathroom needs to immediately have their skull bashed in.
