to bolster his claim, misattributing a quote about Cruz to a former Senator.
First, Trump retweeted his social media director's link to a blog post about former Republican Senator Tom Coburn on Texas Sen. Cruz.
"Unreal! Highly respected Senator Tom Coburn- said this about Cruz," the business mogul tweeted, attributing the quote "He is, without a doubt, one of the most dishonest people in DC," to Coburn.
Trump then repeated the quote during a rally in North Augusta, South Carolina. "Did you see the Senator from Oklahoma just came out with a statement? One of the most incredible statements ... he came out with such an unbelievably strong statement that Ted Cruz is the most dishonest person."
In truth, that quote about Cruz came from a liberal blogger about four months ago, not from a former United States Senator in a recent statement...

The funny thing is, I will at least admit when my guy makes a mistake.

I’ve begun doing so as well , first time I’ve begun posting on other sites where civil discussion actually takes place. FR has been the only site I’ve posted on for many years....it’s no longer a Conservative site as evidenced by the posters for the most part....I miss my friends here who are now in this Trump stronghold .....it’s heartwretching seeing them become as I’ve seen and heard.

Cruz never promised anyone that he would get 0bamcare defunded. He said he would fight to get it done, and he used every means at his disposal in that fight. That is all you can ask.
No he didn’t.
IOW, Donnie Boy has been caught lying again and again.
First Rubio lies and gets caught while trying to call Cruz a liar, then Trump does it. It’s almost as if they’re some sort of tag team.
Right! Ted Cruz never said, “I am going to defund Obamacare!”. He always says, “I am going to try to defund Obamacare, even though I know it is a long shot, and I can’t do it without the help of other Senators.” Yes, that is what he always says. Totally honest and above board.

Ted Cruz fought amnesty and helpted kill the amnesty bill in the Senate. OTOH, Trump’s policy amounts to amnesty.
Exactly -- and with little support. The GOPe excoriated him for doign what he said he would do. That's unacceptable in Washington.
Cruz has a proven record of doing what he says he will do. Trump has a proven record of flip-flopping and spinning.
Well, of course he is. If The Don says he said it, then whatever he actually said is a lie because it's not what The Don said he said.
