A few months ago I wrote that Donald Trump was probably going to withdraw before the Iowa caucuses rather than face the embarrassment of defeat. Wrong. He did lose Iowa, seemed momentarily humbled, but then quickly reverted to form by asserting that he really won. He went on to a landslide victory in New Hampshire and now leads in South Carolina.
While much of the political world speculates that Trump may be creating a new kind of candidacy largely immune to normal attacks, let me make another assertion (that may prove as wrong as the previous): Donald Trump should be easy to defeat. What makes him not a ânormalâ candidate actually makes him more vulnerable rather than stronger. Let me explain.
In a Republican primary, Trump lacks both an ideological or geographic base. For all the focus on his bigoted remarks about Mexicans and Muslims, Trump has won self-identified moderate voters in both Iowa and New Hampshire. In Iowa, he lost conservatives and very conservatives but won them in NH (in a landslide victory like he had in NH, itâs hard to win everything.) In a party that is increasingly dominated by the South and Sunbelt, Trump lives on Fifth Avenue.

>>If you really cared, youâd get behind a conservative.
I just don’t believe that conservatism is an all-or-nothing suicide pact like you do. You are prepared to take political cyanide if you can’t get the “perfect” conservative in what has become a left-of-center America. Cruz can’t lead a nation like that. He can’t negotiate with the Dems. He can’t even convince lifelong conservatives (I have perfect Republican voting record since 1980. Never even missed a mid-term or primary). If he could, he’d be in the lead and Trump would have gone away by October.
You guys spend all your time trying to beat us into submission by calling us names, questioning our conservatism, and even questioning our faith. You make vague claims about Cruz when he has no record of success to back any of it up.
I wish he was a better statesman so I could believe that he could defeat the liberal media, the Democratic nominee, the GOPe—because they would certainly be joining forces to beat him if he gets the nomination.
What has that to do with a poster here comparing foreign mass murdering dictators to Trump and tens of millions of his American supporters? I am not sure I get the correlation beandog.
Here's something to consider: the Bush Family IS the GOPe.
Everything we hate about the Republican Establishment is reflective of the Bush family philosophy. The GOPe is staffed totally by Bush hires and with Bush family agenda - first of which is unlimited immigration and amnesty for illegals, and second of which is corrupt uniparty cronyism (hello, Bill Clinton, Papa Bush's "favorite son").
My theory: Trump knows this, and has decided to torpedo the Bush legacy; he is going full Bushie delenda est.
I was generally a W supporter, especially during his first term. But I despise the GOPe - and the truth is, you cannot separate what the Establishment is and believes from the Bush family.
That entire Bush mindset has poisoned the Party and has got to go.
The Bush Family took over the GOP in 1988, fired the Reaganites, and has run the Party into the ground.
Everyone knows the GOP has a "brand" problem. Well, who the hell do you think trashed the brand?
The Bush family.
Your being a Trump supporter already self declares you as being on the wrong end of the intelligence bell curve.
There you go again, with that magnificent persuasive talent of yours.
Just taking a page from your overgrown oompa loompa’s playbook. Now what I need to do is dump my wife for a Slovenian hooker and have a squirrel live on my pate.
Again, genius persuasion.
Whatever you say, Rick Wilson.

Don't worry.. I promise NOT to remind you, or rub it in, after Saturday's SC primary and Trump's dominant WIN!
You want to admit defeat before you even get in the fight. Cruz has a much better chance of between the Democrats than Trump does according to the most recent polls.

Then he should easily win Super Tuesday and the blue state primaries and he will cruise to the nomination and I will support him.
Just keep in mind that polls have become very unreliable in this age where many people have turned off their landline phone, robocalling, and cell phone telemarketing calls.
>>You want to admit defeat before you even get in the fight.
Huh? I’m backing the guy who the experts said was a joke 6 months ago and is winning right now.
Telling you about the obvious flaws in your guy is not me admitting defeat. It is me softening the blow for you to help you accept it when your guy loses.
But I could be wrong. We will have to see how things go in SC. It’s the first real primary that isn’t just a dog and pony show for the media.
