A few months ago I wrote that Donald Trump was probably going to withdraw before the Iowa caucuses rather than face the embarrassment of defeat. Wrong. He did lose Iowa, seemed momentarily humbled, but then quickly reverted to form by asserting that he really won. He went on to a landslide victory in New Hampshire and now leads in South Carolina.
While much of the political world speculates that Trump may be creating a new kind of candidacy largely immune to normal attacks, let me make another assertion (that may prove as wrong as the previous): Donald Trump should be easy to defeat. What makes him not a “normal†candidate actually makes him more vulnerable rather than stronger. Let me explain.
In a Republican primary, Trump lacks both an ideological or geographic base. For all the focus on his bigoted remarks about Mexicans and Muslims, Trump has won self-identified moderate voters in both Iowa and New Hampshire. In Iowa, he lost conservatives and very conservatives but won them in NH (in a landslide victory like he had in NH, it’s hard to win everything.) In a party that is increasingly dominated by the South and Sunbelt, Trump lives on Fifth Avenue.

If you want Hillary, keep it up. Don’t expect conservative voters to vote for Trump just because he may be better than the other guy. Prove to us that he is and we might vote for him when the time comes.

Yeah, he did look like a Wonka employee but for the nation, I only care about who can actually beat Hillary or Sanders or a Hillary/Sanders ticket. You can't always get what you want.
Sorry, but this “advice” is about as useful as his prediction about Trump pulling out before IA to avoid a loss. Don’t know who this guy is, but his grasp on reality is TENUOUS at best.
This is a model to basically continue to lose to Trump.
The problem with all this blathering by this individual is that he seems to think pointing out Trump failed at something that that is going to destroy him.... its a laughable premise. Trump is a businessman, he’s had successes and failures, and because Trump has ALWAYS made himself part of the public consciousness he’s done them all in the public eye.
His business failures aren’t hidden away, they are out there for all to see. This “strategy” is about as useful as deciding you are going to try to go after Tim Allen because he went to jail for dealing drugs... doesn’t matter he made a career after that pointing out exactly what he did in his standup.
This guy is trying to go for the trifecta of failure on Trump, that this will be his 2nd pasting.
Trump can’t be beat by death by a thousand cuts, or even numberous body blows... you want to take Trump out you have to have a head shot, and the reality is, to date no one has anything.... this guys advice is about as good as his idiotic idea that Trump would withdraw rather than face losing Iowa, as though someone becomes a Billionaire by giving up anytime he doesn’t get his way.... its this fallacy and myth that Trump is just some spoiled brat that keeps causing the establishment and so many others to just completely misjudge the situation and this candidate.
You want to take out Trump? If you don’t have a head shot to offer, your only other choice is to co-opt his message, and since the GOP establishment is completely owned by a few big money donors who will never agree with Closing the Borders, and cutting off their illegal and cheap labor and other things... the establishment guys can’t co opt Trumps message. They can’t promise to put America first, because they are beholden to folks who don’t give a crap about America, just their own damned pockets. The GOP is once again beholden to modern day Stalwarts, who only care about enriching themselves.
You want to beat Trump, you need either a head shot, or you need to simply coopt his message.... The reality is, the rest of the field can do neither, so Trump wins by default. Its amazing, running a campaign of “I WILL PUT AMERICA FIRST” should be such an easy message to co-opt, yet the fact is not a single one of many candidates with R beside their names can do it... what does that tell you about the state of the Republican party?
You want to compare Trump and millions of his supporters to mass murdering dictators? You’re an asshole. You’d fit in well in Berkeley CA slick.
