Been asking a lot of Trump supporters how he is going to ensure everyone is covers without having either single payer or. Mandate. Never got an answer.

Now, no need to ask anymore. He finally answered that question himself.

You are contextually weak.

Listen to ALL the arguments Mr. Trump made on this subject and you will see that the mandate he spoke of are meant to reign in INSURANCE COMPANIES.

Its not clear what Trump means yet because there’s no details to his health care plan yet. His definition of mandate, single payer, universal health care is not the same as those used by political junkies

>>>His statement about people dying in the streets is laughable<<<

Ask any DemoncRat if Republicans want People to die in the Street without having Healthcare.

They will agree with that statement 100% whether it’s a true statement of fact or not. That is what we are up against in the General Election where Facts are matter of opinion.

Example, I tell a Liberal at work about what Obama stands for back in 2008 using Facts at my disposal at the time. His Reply, and this is coming from a College Educated bright Fellow, “well those are YOUR Facts” which he disregards with a wave of his hand.

One thing I have noticed about the people who are solidly in Trump’s corner. They only seen in him what they want to see. If they want to see a limited government pro-life conservative, then that is what they see, even when he espouses big government and pro-abortion positions. They just don’t see that. “I like the mandate” “planned parenthood does a lot of great things”

They can’t deal with that stuff because it doesn’t jive with their religious idea of who their candidate is. So they either make excuses for it, discount it, or pretend he never said it.

I see the same behavior in religious cults. I came out of a religious cult where that kind of cognitive dissonance was rampant. What we are witnessing is more of a religious phenomenon than a political one.

That is what liberals want to do. They want to control private enterprise. Reigning in insurance companies is not now nor has it ever been a conservative value. Insurance companies compete on the open market. Reigning them in limits our liberty. If they can reign in the insurance companies, then they can reign in you and me. Which is exactly that the "mandate" does.

That is completely misleading and wrong.

In response to the question about pre-existing conditions he said he likes the mandate—that is the mandate that insurance companies cover people with pre-existing conditions.

That’s completely different from the mandate that people who can afford it buy it.

for the djt supportrs demanding context

COOPER: Repealed and there’s no mandate for everybody to have insurance, what’s to - why would insurance company (sic) not have a pre-existing - insure somebody who has a pre-existing condition ...

TRUMP: Well I like the mandate. OK. So here’s where I’m a little bit different. I don’t want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this - look, I did five speeches, maybe six speeches today. We had a lot of rallies. We had of thousands and thousands of people. We get big crowds.

Every time I talk about this I get standing ovations. The Republican people, they’re wonderful people. They don’t want people dying on the streets. Sometimes they’ll say Donald Trump wants single payer because there’s a group of people - as good as these plans are and by the way your insurance will go way down, you’ll have better plans, you’ll get your own doctor which Obama lied. Remember this ...

What we have is “I liked it.” and then a ramble about how great he is and how much his crowds like him (like they would be booing ?) and how wonderful his plan is and how little it will cost...

Now of course this plan he speaks of... his web page for “Positions” does not have Health care on it. His “Issues” does not either. so its Nancy Pelosi all over again you have to vote for it to find out whats in it.

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/ to check for your self if you wish.

If one of the djt supporters can find a solid link to the wonderful low cost plan he speaks of feel free to post it, djt has not made it easy to find.

* also note the repubilcan people are spoken of not as we but as a them..

Trumps answer: “I like the mandate”

Which mandate? The mandate FOR ALL PEOPLE TO BE INSURED!

This was a back and forth conversation. I heard it as I believe Trump did:
A question about pre-existing conditions.

As I’ve already posted, if Trump really is for the Obamacare employer/individual mandate, I cannot support him.

What the mandate does now gives the insurance companies the power. What Mr. Trump wants to do is take away that power, and give it back to the people and businesses.

Actually, if it weren’t for insurance companies, we wouldn’t need insurance, as medical providers would not jack up prices to obscene levels, and free market competition would kick in.

Medical costs would be far less expensive, as it is in many countries, while at the same time, providing quality care.

If Trump is for an individual and/or employer mandate he is off my list of candidates.

Well, he certainly is espousing some kind of big government solution to all the "people dying in the streets" isn't he?

His use of the "people dying in the streets" phrase is straight out of the democrat playbook. The fact is that even before Obamacare, there were tons of safety nets for the poor so that nobody had to "die in the streets." In fact, the poorer you are, the better coverage you got.

Trump is not the person you imagine him to be. He is the person he has been for the last 50 years. You don't suddenly become a conservative in your 60's. I became a conservative in my early 20's. The older you get the more set in your ways you become.

*Sigh*

You Cruz supporters are getting so dishonest. Really? Cutting out the context? Claiming that it’s the individual mandate when he meant insurance companies?

I thought that we were AGAINST Rodney King-style George Zimmerman-style edits in order to push a narrative.

But apparently it’s okay when it’s to pimp the Mighty Cruz (peace be upon him) and lies about the accursed Trump.

I have NEVER seen so many people project and split for coping mechanisms at once before. It’s surreal.

The context is the mandate to cover people with pre-existing conditions.

He is not endorsing the mandate that people buy coverage—that’s not the mandate Cooper was asking him about.

Trump was clearly responding to the question about pre-existing conditions. He is for mandating insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. That’s what I got from the interview in context. If Trump were for the individual and/or employer mandate he would be off my list of candidates.

With all due respect, you're ignoring that coverage for pre-existing conditions is inextricably linked to the individual mandate to buy inaurance. That's why Cooper asked the question the way he did.

You can't require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions unless you have an individual mandate for people to buy insurance when healthy. Otherwise, people will hold off on buying insurance until they have major medical expenses. They'll escape paying all the premiums when relatively healthy, and the insurance companies will be forced to start covering them when they get sick because of the rwquorent to cover pre-existing conditions.

That's why Trump supports the individual mandate for people to buy insurance. And that's also why so many of us have been demanding details. We knew that you couldn't have the stuff he was promising without an individual mandate.

No, you’re confusing two different mandates. Cooper asked him about the mandate that insurance companies offer insurance to people with pre-existing conditions.

This deceptive thread is trying to claim that Trump was referring to the mandate that people buy insurance—or get fined/taxed.
