Ted Cruz Already Looking Ahead to Nevada With Latest Ad
Charisma News ^ | February 19, 2016 | BOB ESCHLIMAN

After Saturday's very important South Carolina Republican Primary, the presidential nomination process kicks into a whole new gear.

Three days later, on Tuesday, Republicans in Nevada will gather for their caucus. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) isn't waiting for Saturday night's results from the Palmetto State to launch his efforts in the Silver State. He unveiled his first Nevada-specific ad on Thursday afternoon.

The 30-second spot, titled "Nevada Land," continues the Cruz campaign's attacks on Republican front-runner Donald Trump over the issue of eminent domain and federal ownership of land. It features Cruz speaking directly to the voters:

"Eighty five percent of Nevada is owned and regulated by the federal government. And Donald Trump wants to keep big government in charge. That's ridiculous.

"You, the people of Nevada, not Washington bureaucrats, should be in charge of your own land. If you trust me with your vote, I will fight day and night to return full control of Nevada's lands to its rightful owners—its citizens. Count on it."

Trump currently holds a 22-point lead over Cruz in recent polls, according to Real Clear Politics. But unlike in Iowa, Nevada delegates aren't bound to the results of the caucus popular vote, making the Silver State a test of organizational strength rather than get-out-the-vote efforts.

Cruz got a boost in that regard, as well, on Thursday. Carl Bunce, who was Rand Paul's senior advisor in Nevada, announced his endorsement and encouraged "libertarian-leaning conservatives" to caucus for the Texas senator.

Bunce joins former Huckabee state leaders Assemblyman John Ellison and former Nevada Republican Party National Committeeman James Smack, who also endorsed Cruz.

"In Nevada and throughout the country, a growing coalition of courageous conservatives continue to unite around us, and I'm thrilled to have Carl joining our team," Cruz said. "Carl has been a staunch advocate for the liberty movement in Nevada and throughout our nation. He brings great experience to our campaign in uniting and turning out libertarian-leaning Republicans, and ensuring they stay engaged in the political process and have their voices heard in the upcoming election."

One amendment doing that in a budget bill that gets voted down easily.

Ted: Well I tried. Sorry.

Good point. Trump will get the Harry Reid voters to support him in Nevada. Looks like in the general election we get to vote for super liberal or liberal.

I’ll be voting 3rd party ;-)

“I heard Ted Cruz was headed back to Texas today. Very unusual. Maybe you should vote for Ben Carson instead South Carolinians.”

Too funny. I love it. You know Cruz really is stupid on Strategic Planning. His little win in Iowa has cost him a ton. Oh well his loss. I guess he will continue the trend of the Santorum and Huckabee Iowa wins and be a footnote. Although Santorum actually did better then Cruz is doing in 2012 almost getting the nomination.

Nothing on “partial birth abortion” for the good folks in Nevada? Is Tricky Teddy pumping the breaks on that talking point?

I heard Ted Cruz was headed back to Texas today.

But, was it reported on CNN breaking news?

I used to say I’d support whoever the nominee is but not so sure anymore. After seeing what a snake Cruz is, not sure I could force myself to stand with him.

btw, never on your Cruz train wreck, the guy’s as bad as Obama with his lies and tactics. We don’t need more of that.

I think Donald should promise to open up Area 51 to tourists. Cut Ted off at the knees.

Delegates are elected in a series of public party meetings. They are not appointed by someone in Washington. That’s the hallmark of a republican form of government. It’s not a crude democracy.

So don’t even try to do it? One thing he has proven is that if he campaigns on it he will do it.

And one thing for sure he won’t be using eminent domain to expand the casinos in Vegas.

Ben Carson’s a good man. I can’t help wondering if your “info” on Cruz came from CNN or if it’s based on the campaign practices of another candidate.

Cruz has a tough road in NV. He is up against Trump who is media whore and the biggest high-stakes gamble ever. NV loves to gamble big and whoredom is an approved industry.

I read the title as “Cruz Already Losing...”

Which is much more factual.

LOL! Good one. That would definitely get the any crazies not already supporting Trump to support him. Good way to draw votes away from Sanders, but Sanders voters will already have voted in Nevada so Trump needs to release that platform before the Nevada Democrat primary.

I heard Ted Cruz was headed back to Texas today. Very unusual.

He just needs some clean jeans and some R&R. Or he's dropping out.

-—a 22-point lead MIGHT evaporate to a 10 point-lead if Cruz is lucky. -—

Trump could do it. He’s made a lot of mistakes in the past few days. His lead in SC has dropped from 16 to 5.

Trump goes Code Pink when he gets nervous.

Yes, Trump making use of a crappy legal framework in order to run a successful business is terrible. Instead, vote for Ted Cruz, the guy who wanted to increase those H-1B’s 500%.

Makes perfect sense.
