The Kasich Campaign’s Next Moves
National Review ^ | February 18, 2016 | Alexis Levinson

Posted on 02/21/2016 6:41:19 AM PST by campaignPete R-CT

The next stops for Kasich are the primaries in New England. Vermont and Massachusetts, whose media markets at points overlap with New Hampshire, where Kasich practically lived for the past several months, both hold primaries on March 1. The Maine primary follows on March 5. Those around Kasich believe he can capitalize on his investment in New Hampshire with voters in those surrounding states. Kasich is scheduled to spend the day of the South Carolina primary in Massachusetts ...

Still, Kasich’s biggest target other than his native Ohio remains Michigan, which will hold its primary on March 8. Kasich’s advisers have long said he could do well in the Midwest, which votes later in the calendar but is littered with winner-take-all states. Of those, Michigan, with its 59 delegates, comes first ...

Including Maryland and Oregon.

Kasich needs to find the instructions on how to fold up his tent.

Go TRUMP!

Unless the donor class is inspired and mobilized by a distant fourth place finish, I think the Kasich campaign’s next move is to deploy staff to busy traffic intersections to panhandle for money.

Sort of looks like Yeb ... leans forward, shoulders hunched, you know, the standard Lurch posture, calls himself a Democrat - that guy

That's true, but I think little Johnny K. will suck up to Rubio as much as possible in the process, hoping to be part of the liberal-GOPe wet dream ticket of Rubio-Kasich.

It all makes such perfect sense (to the GOPees): Rubio guarantees a win in Florida -- a critical swing state -- and Kasich guarantees a win in Ohio -- another critical swing state!

Of course they actually guarantee nothing of the sort, and then Hillary takes 58% of the vote against that pair of milquetoasts. But at least the liberal establishment remains in power in the Republican Country Club for another 4 years and isn't swept into the trash like they will be when Trump wins.

I hope Bush endorses the Karate Kid.

Split the Rubio vote.

Here in MA, I've heard a lot of people talk about Trump. Opinion is divided, of course, but a surprising number of people here in Liberal MA think Trump is the solution to our problems.

I've never heard ANYONE mention Kasich. The man doesn't exist here.

I can see how Kasich could win the Democrat-dominated states' primary races -- Vermont, Maryland, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, California, etc... and be one of the names nominated at the Republican convention.

Democrat voters may crossover and vote for him in lieu of Hillary (grafter) and Sanders (kook). My "evidence" is conversation with California (Bay Area) daughter who leans liberal.

My preference is Cruz & his 10th amendment stand (my motto is Lesser Government = Greater America). However, unless he can win in 8 states, his name will not be entered at the Republican Nomination. Would like to hear from folks from Republican-dominated states, such as in the west, if Cruz can top Trump in those states.

When Trump becomes president, I think he should just live there instead of the white house.

It may takes years to fumigate the white house after the Obama infestation!

I expect that ticket to emerge...rubio and kasich.
What is interesting is the number of Cruisers on here who say they will not vote for Trump if he is the nominee and by extension will not vote for him over anyone else in the primary except perhaps Carson. That is troubling. Funny, most all of the Trumpsters will support Cruz. Seems to me that is a major loss for the good guys verses the GOPe and eventually over the hated dems. If I will take my ball and go home if I don't get my way thought pattern persists to fruition, I am done with any support for anyone, self espoused holier than thou extremists included. My point is I want a ticket that can win in November, not one that makes a statement. The GOPe is not going to out "E" the dems so our side better come to that realization or be nothing but the Washington Generals.

“My “evidence” is conversation with California (Bay Area) daughter who leans liberal.”

Just read a letter in our local rag from some transplant from Ohio to NE Florida who supports Kasich. A perfect example of why we should stop any immigration from the north to the south. “ole Johnny was so great for Ohio” we should vote for him here in Florida....kinda like the same thing we hear all the time, “we did it better back where I came from.” My general comment to those points is, if it was so great there, why are you here?

I’d like to see Cruz and Trump stop with the childish sniping at each other and focus their attacks where those attacks need to go — at the establishment (i.e. every other GOP candidate besides themselves and maybe Ben Carson) and the Democrats.

They need to understand that once ONE of Cruz-Trump is vanquished (that will be Cruz of course) the other will be easier to take down because he’ll be drawing ALL of the liberal fire from both parties.

So we need Cruz to survive until the convention instead of imploding, then kiss & make up with the nominee (Trump) in exchange for the VP slot or, much better, Scalia’s seat on the Court.

If it doesn’t work out that way, and we get that Rubio-Kasich or Rubio-whatever ticket, the liberal establishment of both parties can breathe a big sigh of relief since 8 years of “President Hillary” — which is exactly what we’ll get unless she croaks somewhere along the line — is vastly preferable to them than even one minute of “President Trump” or “President Cruz”.

I think Rubio will pick Haley if he wins.
She won’t bring in a state he would otherwise lose, but she’s a she.

Speaking of busy intersections....I was at one just south of Cleveland yesterday, stumping for trump. We got a lot of positive reaction for Trump, spanning all age groups and ethnicities. One Cruz supporter swore at us. One femazi swore at us gals out there that we were vile women or something like that for not supporting hillary.

What's my point? NOT ONE passerby said anything to support Kasich. I wonder if he might fool people in a few other states, but lose Ohio and neighboring Michigan.
