Giuliani is Trump’s campaign consigliere

"There is candor and there is trust," Giuliani said of his relationship with Trump.

Giuliani said Trump leans on advisers and is more open to suggestions than the real estate maverick lets on.

"He is calling a lot of people, listening but doing what he thinks he needs to do," Giuliani said. "He listens respectfully, says he'll consider whatever it is you send him. Sometimes he uses what we send him, sometime he doesn't."

Trump, who finished second in Iowa before scoring decisive victories in New Hampshire and South Carolina, still appears to be persona non grata with mainline Republican leadership.

But two-term mayor Giuliani said heavyweight Republicans are quietly keeping in back-channel touch with Trump.

Giuliani declined to out those Republicans: "I could easily list off some names for you, but that's for Donald to say."

Trump confirmed in an email to the Washington Post on Sunday night that he's leaned on Rudy for advice.

"Rudy is a very knowledgeable friend. I consider his counsel very important," Trump wrote.

Why did an image of Robert Duvall pop into my head when I read that headline? :-)

Is the Mafia reference really needed? GOPe and MSM keep the hits coming! In the end however the MSM will bring out the long knives for Republicans and just might be able to take back the Senate for the Dems.

I think it’s the closest thing to a compliment the MSM can muster for Rudy. He did take down the mob.

Just days ago Rudy bashed Trump. I worked for Rudy to win was at his Victory nite party, and his inaugural.

So I like Rudy. But I am confused where he stands these days.

Bye the way Rudy was one of the top 3 NYC mayors ever.

No. But that being said, he would have been a much better POTUS than anyone the GOP has nominated since Reagan.

A week or so ago Trump said he was getting phone calls from “the establishment” he said he wasn’t sure that was a good thing. However if “the establishment” is smart they will not burn all their bridges to Trump.

I remember when Giuliani was the most hated man on FR and his supporters were scorned and zotted.

I don’t much care what he is. Trump is a pragmatic populist with conservative leanings who brings an extensive business and finance background and if his advisors have similar resumes, that’s more than good enough for me.

“Identity Politics” - i.e. grouping people into class movements based on things like religion, disabilities, race, gender, LGBT-whatever, or ideology is what the Clintons did, and it doesn’t work. If it did, Cruz would have won the evangelicals in NH and SC. Think about that next time you try to stick your “Staunch Conservative” label on someone.

Which frankly I never got. Sure Rudy had a lot of flaws (try getting elected Mayor of NYC as a SoCon). But he was a much better leader than any of them.

I would vote for that...but two New Yorkers on the ticket...probably not going to happen.

I can think of a few:
Giuliani - Obviously.
Palin - Obviously.
Sessions - Deduced by the Immigration Plan and the staffers.
Rumsfeld - ??
Newt - ??
