Action Alert: Anti-Gun Bill Scheduled for Tuesday Afternoon [OK]
OK2A-Action ^ | February 22, 2016 | Tim Gillespie

Republican State Representative Randy Grau, at the request of the District Attorney's Council, has authored a bill that would greatly weaken Oklahoma's "Stand Your Ground" law. Currently, when a judge rules that the protections of the Stand Your Ground law apply in a case, the prosecutors cannot appeal that ruling. Rep. Grau's bill, HB2521, would allow prosecutors to appeal that ruling. After heated opposition from Rep. Kevin Calvey (the original author of the Stand Your Ground law) and OK2A-Action during last week's Judiciary Committee meeting, Rep. Grau laid the bill over in order to keep it from being voted down. Despite the opposition, Rep. Grau, the Chairman of the committee, has included the bill on his agenda for the committee again this week.

A citizen involved in a self-defense shooting should not be further traumatized through continued attempts by the state to prosecute them simply for defending themselves. Rep. Grau's argument that this bill actually strengthens the Stand Your Ground law is inaccurate and ridiculous. Please call or email the members of the House Judiciary Committee and ask that they oppose this bill.

Gotta keep an eye on our critters. Looks like an opportunity for potential prosecutorial shenanigans to me.

There are significant numbers of Prog-libs in Tulsa and OKC that would LOVE to ban guns in the entire state. Seriously. There are. I used to work with some of them.

"Currently, when a judge rules that the protections of the Stand Your Ground law apply in a case, the prosecutors cannot appeal that ruling."

In other words they couldn't crush the defendant under endless government prosecutions that would destroy his life anyway. Yeah, lets get rid of that law.

Yes indeed there are! Lots of Fudds too. I used to, and STILL work with some of them. Worked at a local university for several years, where they were (and are) thick upon the ground.
