Had to look it up because a WW2 vet could have been born in 1920.
Dole was born in July, 1923.

Wow. That means in WW2 he must’ve been like 16 or 17. All the people who were adults during WW2 are either dead or nearly 100.

He went into the Army in 1942—age 18/19, and was gravely wounded in Italy in April, 1945—still 21.
But yes, the WW2 generation is passing on.
