Hillary claims NASA rejected her for astronaut program over being a woman

For the second time this presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton is claiming a federal agency rejected her inquiries to serve because she was a woman.

Clinton, appearing Tuesday on the Steve Harvey Show, said growing up, she wanted to be an astronaut.

“I was excited about the space program. I was excited about President Kennedy saying we were gonna send a man to the moon and bring him back within the decade. I thought it was really incredible we were gonna do that,” she told Harvey.

“So, yes, I wrote to NASA,” she said.

“Really…” Harvey replied.

“I wrote to NASA, you know, and said, well, how do you get the be an astronaut. They wrote me back saying, ‘thank you very much for your interest. At this time we are not accepting women astronauts,'” she said as the audience collectively sighed.

“And it did, you know, it hurt my feelings, but I could never have been an astronaut anyway, but I was happy that Sally Ride and other women got to be astronauts later on,” she said to applause.

Naw, it was her fat butt, they didn’t have a seat wide enough or a rocket with enough power.

Of the seven original Mercury astronauts, three were in the Air Force, three were in the Navy, and one was in the Marine Corps.

Just for the sake of discussion, let’s say that Hillary did apply for the astronaut program. The following women, all approximately the same age as Hillary (their year of birth is shown in parentheses) have flown in space as a member of the U.S. astronaut program: Sally Ride 91951), Judith Resnik (1949), Kathryn Sullivan (1951), Anna Lee Fisher (1949), Margaret Rhea Seddon (1947), Shannon Lucid (1943), Bonnie Dunbar (1949), and Mary Cleave (1947.) Since they are about the same age as Hillary, it stands to reason that they also applied for the program at about the same age that Hillary would have been when she applied. Why weren’t they turned down?

Sally Ride was several astronaut generations later. Project Mercury, project Gemini, project Apollo and then finally the Space Shuttle program.

Mercury, Gemini and Apollo were considered high risk and no women were considered for the astronaut program at that time. Furthermore, the capsules were small and had no privacy.

"And it did, you know, it hurt my feelings but... when I'm elected I'll rip those NASA sons-a-bitches into a jillion pieces!"

"Poor old Hill-- She gets... her stories mixed up.

"I told her back then... her ass was out of this world--

"And she thought I wanted her... to be an astronaut."

Yep, sportfans-- You just cannot... make this stuff up!

I imagine she wrote many letters from the sanitarium.

Oh the inhumanity!

How can this poor woman cope with all the rejection in her life?

The US Marines didn't want her.

NASA didn't want her.

Fired from the House Judiciary Committee to Impeach President Nixon.

The voters didn't want her in 2008.

Hillary's claim is that she wrote when she was 13, which was 1961 or 62. NASA does not keep copies of that kind of correspondence but it is telling that no publicity hound has ever come forward with a NASA no girls allowed rejection letter. Others have surfaced where NASA laid out the requirements without reference to gender.

The fact is if Hillary really wanted to be an astronaut she could have pursued a career in the sciences and/or aviation like the women you mentioned and if she made herself a top prospect she was in the right age cohort to be selected.

And she wonders why she is not perceived as a truthful person?

Sorry, Hillary. NASA wants astronauts for zero
gravity, not astronauts with zero gravitas.
