President Obama on Tuesday phoned the second-ranking Senate Republican, John Cornyn, amid a major battle over the Supreme Court.
"Appreciate the courtesy of a call from POTUS on SCOTUS nomination and criminal justice reform," the Texas senator tweeted.

WHAT HAPPENED TO JOHN CORNYN? (Cornyn’s ‘Empty The Prisons’ Bill)

Cornyn has one face for his campaign ads and the other face he shows in DC. Texans haven’t figured that out yet. He won big last time.
Will it be BLACKMAIL or a BRIBE?
Cornyn is an embarasement for Texas. He is worse than Kaye Bailey Hutchinson and that’s hard to do. He will say one thing and then do something completely different. Very sad. We counted on him to keep his promises.
Well Mitch says no so unless he changes his mind its not happening.
didn’t get my vote!
‘Now listen, whoever comes to the Obama meeting, he’s the traitor.’
Didn’t get my vote, either.
I would go with both; some ugly dirt dug up and a nice juicy bribe on the side.
He and Mitch
He better not plan on coming back to Texas if he caves to Obama on this crucial issue that will affect our nation for decades.i
Yep.
You mean “its been a week i’m caving” Mitch?
0bama’s Senator Cornhole...
Of course, Texas Republicans would love to get rid of Cornyn. But there has to be viable competition to vote for. No politician stepped forward in a serious manner. One did at the very last hour of the last day to file (Rep. Steve Stockman), but he virtually disappeared and ran no campaign at all. I voted for him anyway. There were a couple of businessmen, one of which was pretty good but none could campaign or communicate very well. John Cornyn, won the primary with 59 percent against nobody competition, the general with 62 percent against a Dem commie. These numbers are extremely low to the point of stinking; his numbers have been sinking each cycle he’s been in office.
If even half a person as good as Ted Cruz ran against Cornyn, that person would have won. I wouldn’t be surprised if any potential good candidates were threatened/intimidated into passing on the opportunity, especially after Ted Cruz destroyed David Dewhurst the cycle before. The Texas Republican party is looking a lot different at this time - the most conservative it has ever been and improving each cycle. Hopefully, the next time Cornyn comes around for reelection, he’ll either retire or be retired like Dewhurst was by Ted.
